Roaming group wvw build :)HELP
I do the small group roaming as well and have about the same goal, too. I’m just not all that experienced on my Guardian (still not quite to 80). I’m still experimenting, but here’s where I’m leaning:

A balanced build w/ decent damage, enough crits to proc, good mobility (Traveler Runes + teleport), a healthy dose of healing and toughness, and a few support style traits (AR & Heal-Rolls, especially). I know I get eaten by condi spammers if I don’t get help from others, but you can’t have everything. If you give up more damage (and maybe mobility), you can get to PoV and also consider Soldier’s Runes for extra removal. I love the Sword & Focus. I’m rather undecided on GrSw vs Hammer, tho. Anyway, not claiming to be an expert. Just sharing ideas.
I’ve been using this build for several months now. I found it to be the perfect balance between survival and damage. I would never run a roaming guardian without Judges Intervention. I’ve lost count of the times an enemy thought he could just run away from a slow guardian when things get critical and BOOM! 2k damage, burning and in range for another 6k Zealot’s Defense. (Not to mention for when you can use it to get away by targeting trash mobs to instantly blink 1200 units away from your enemy).
It’s also really good for getting into towers with 40 enemies in front. Just target an enemy close to the portal, blink to him and dodge once to get in.
The build also works well in the occasional zerg, with a few modifications. (Change Smite Conditions to reflect etc.)

I run a 10/0/30/25/5 (more damage) build or a 0/15/30/20/5 (more blind/vuln/burn spam) meditation builds myself.
The nice thing about those builds is they are ‘generic’ in terms of utility/weapon cooldown and you can use strong weapon combos.
Sw-F/H
GS/H
Sc-F/GS (less than 5)
Ham/Staff (when you have more than 5 it works, let other people be mobile)
This build is used for mainly JI/Hammer rings to section of parts of groups and focus fire and it works well for that.

Few months back or maybe long you had brought this up and I was like self, have you ever tried that? No, I never really used the two together like that. You then mentioned a few other things and I’ve been sold on this ever since.
Besides saying again thanks for that tip months back it is still probably the biggest asset one can bring to the group. I typically find that once the engaging team sees I’m a supporting cast member they just bypass me and focus fire on the DPS in order of highest to lowest. Leaving me left with nothing.
Scepter/focus and hammer seem to prevent them from doing that a bit more easily while also allowing those that try to turn and burn out and reset delays so we can finish. Soft CC I know but it is something that helps never the less when they play the “avoid the guardian” game…

Back in the golden days of this game me, Crank King, Gae Ko, Templanos (Oozo) would ‘deep strike’ into enemy lines. It was a kittening rush appearing in the middle of a group 2-3 times your size then having 2-3 more guardians appear near you dropping rings as well. We followed that up with others AOE and big water fields making a water park for the guardians to hammer around in.
This was about a year ago, lol. I still don’t see hammer trains do this, they just walk in with hammer warriors and guardians in tow. It would be twice as effective if they had deep strike guardians going in first with blinds on VoJ it would be crazy effective.

I’ve seen this done a lot. Problem is any good guild group will have coordinated stability making the technique irrelevant. It is hilarious on pug zergs though.

It still is useful to have at least one Guard doing this, but now days it’s to ensure enemy stability gets “burnt” early

Yea like I said we were doing it before it was cool to do it. And you’d be really kittening surprised at how many ‘good guild groups’ will fall on their kitten before burning stability.
