Post your Guardian builds of all sorts here!
I’m currently running this build for my PvE play. I still haven’t became satisfied with a PvP one yet.

I’m working on a PvP tank/objective holder build. Still messing around with a lot of stuff but this is what I have so far. http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#MccoMV0zmvNGmmvNGm0a0xxMzMbMsb

This is mine

30 Radiance and 30 Honor. Sturdy, high-crit build with steady one-handed damage and versatile support. Plus a permanent stack of 2-3 might on all nearby allies.

Thoughts on this build??? It’s a single build for sword/torch + scepter/shield, focusing mostly on burning (as well as blind and aegis, plus minor other random boon procs). Going for a more general build that picks up a lot of bonus offensive/defensive character attributes (power, precision, vitality, healing, etc). Thanks!!

The Brick Wall

Keep in mind I ENJOY and have ONLY played healers and support types for near 20 years of MMOs now. Its what I do!

This build is all about standing toe to toe with the enemey, while tossing out boons and healing to the group…you do however, hit like a wet noodle! The flip side to the lack of DPS is being near unkillable, even if things go BADLY you can almost always get away.

This build is boon based, the more you have up the better the flow of combat becomes. I wont go into great detail unless asked. Armor and gear play a major role in this as well – My entire set of gear, weapons and armor is based around + Toughness, Healing and Vit. I attain this by applying matching runes to the armor.

In WvW my main job is to run the front lines and draw fire…yep…Im bait and I love it!

The 2H-Shout Build v1.0 by Lord Avarize

I have this build with a gs with my main weapon most of the time i rarely switch because of the greatsword trait that reduces cooldown by 20% and the shouts recharge faster again because of the trait that reduces cooldown by 20%.

This build is very strong in pve and pvp and so dungeons it grants protection that reduces 33% incoming damage by my 2 shouts (Hold the Line & Save Yourselves – grants mspd bonus also) and i have a stability which is very good in pvp and pve (Stand your Guard) this also breaks stuns

in case of difficult switch situations i switch to my mace and shield for defense. but i rarely switch even in pvp.

in Radiance Trait i took Searing Blades and Blind Exposure. currently using a beryl set i maintain about 25% crit chance and 50% damage. its pretty amazing how much damage u can do..

and never underestimate the virtues with the inspired virtue trait.. they are amazing they save me alot of times.

This is my extremely offensive burn build, dubbed ‘Whirlwind of Fire’. It’s a Sword/Torch/Greatsword build that maximizes crit chance and precision, keeping burns constantly on the target and overwhelming them with gap-closers and offense.

By using Honor and Valor instead of toughness, I put out good damage while being more durable than a Zeal Build, and often melt even warriors in a span of 15-20 seconds.

PvE Dungeon Build: http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#MmccMV0MmRGComRGCm9Mxxacsqckso

So my guild mostly does WvW, which I switch some traits around for and run mace/shield + greatsword usually, but for soloing and running dungeons, I run a complete support/boon build. Yes, your DPS becomes an almost nonfactor, but you’re built to survive and kite around mobs if you need your party to run back for something, and you’re built to easily revive allies, especially with the lovely Sanctuary skill, which I feel is underutilized. This also generates a light field (unless I am remembering something totally wrong), so if you or an ally is going down quick or you need to buy time to keep mobs off you while you revive an ally, this is a great way to buy time to heal/revive/remove conditions. Sometimes I slot Battle Presence in the Honor 30 trait slot, but I find often times my party will be half ranged/half melee so it loses utility while 2H Mastery reduces cooldown on all the staff skills, so overall I think it’s better in that situation.

I feel staff is really underutilized in dungeons and offers excellent support options for your party, but I think some people are reluctant to give up the various DPS options available to us just to equip a staff.

My gear is all vit/tough/healing, sapphire jewelry, and working on getting superior runes of the forge for my gear as well. Mace/Shield/Staff all slotted with superior sigils of water, which with the AoE autoattack of the staff does make a noticeable difference. I’m still working on a good PvP build/DPS build, but this has been working fine for dungeons, WvW, and soloing. Tome of Courage is an amazing elite skill but as I’m sure many of you know, just making sure to protect yourself while it’s up sometimes is an issue.

Thats what i run in pvp.
Gear is of the undead, and the accessory is the vitality/condition/power (iirc)

Greatsword — No explanation needed.
Sword and board — #2) Used to chase, or jump to an allie being stomped (followed with a #5)

  1. For chasing/killing/pressuring from a range when your GS #4/5 are down.
  2. SOOOOOOOO useful. This lets you interrupt people, hold a position, stop a cap, save an ally — the uses here are endless.

The trait for 90 toughness when using a shield helps a ton, i find, since i rez with shield up etc.

Basically you use meditations to stay alive and stay in the fray where you need to be. Your #8 skill helps maintain dmg and keep the conditions down (coupled with the signet passive. Ive even used the traight for another condition removal every 10s)

I use #9 to keep myself fresh from huge condition hitters.

The meditation heal trait heals for about 1400hp. Signet for like…. 8500. My hp is at 18k, so i stay really high up.. Rolls also heal for about 370.

If you want to be REALLY tanky, put on the aegis heals on removal instead of relation. It heals for about 600 hp, and in a standard fight (say a min) youll get 4 procs at least. 1 from initial, 1 from 40 sec later. 1 from your 5pts into valor, and lastly 1 for when u activate courage. Thats another 2400 hp, for free.

5 points into radiance/virtues due to how good the passive is. Blinding enemies is amazing, it truely helps survive. And getting free buffs from your clutch virtues is just great at relieving pressure.

Copy pasted from the other thread

My current build for GS/Scepter+Torch is 25 Zeal, 15 Radiance, 30 Honor

Zeal traits are the 10% fire damage and 5% GS damage
Radiance haven’t decided on a trait ability yet, maybe Inner Fire
Honor traits are +Symbol Range, +20% greatsword range, +Symbol Healing

For PvE/Offensive PvP Utility Skills are Purging Flames, Judge’s Intervention and Retreat

For survivability in PvP Contemplation of Purity, Save Yourselves! and Retreat

Hounds of Balthazar or Tome of Courage on Elite

This gives you a fair amount of mobility, while being able to both deal decent damage and be a bit tanky (though I wouldn’t recommend standing still). Symbol of Wrath will deal more damage, be larger and heal you and allies.

It might synergize better with Staff, but I like my ranged attacks.

Offensive Meditation Greatsword a.k.a. “The Nuke”
Focus: PvE and SPvP
Note: Last utility slot can be anything. You can replace Judge’s Intervention with other meditations for more support/survivability. On-switched weapon can be anything.

PvE:
It has the best trait combo – Renewed Justice and Inspired Virtue. This allows you to spam Virtue of Justice (thus stacking Might) on AoE. It has the highest damage output out of of every build I’ve gotten my hand on (full berserker – 3100 attack/53% crit chance/91% crit damage). My Whirl of Wrath had crit for 10.2k (was in explore mode Arah) without cheesing Mights and Vulnerabilities. For survivability, you have a decent amount of armor (2500) due to 30 points in Valor and Monk’s Focus.

SPvP:
Based off a popular offensive meditation build in beta (however with sword instead of greatsword). Here’s a video of me using the beta model demonstrating the survivability: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAQAClTLWXY
The greatsword model should provide more damage with a little bit less survivability (lose either shield or focus). Remember to use Knight’s, not Berserker’s amulet.
