1st Day Video

Nothing special, just highlighting the build. Does great damage if you can catch people in clusters… superb actually.

1v1’s still have the same issues – nothings really changed on that front.

The overall damage from other classes is ~way~ more bursty and I found myself having to preemptively dodge or use skills because 1s later and 100% – 0% hp wasn’t uncommon from Mes, Eng & Theif.

Haven’t been able to get on too much lately, but was able to capture this fun 6vs16 fight w/ the Shattered Aegis build.

Enjoyable as always. Just wondering if you have anything after the changes recently? First few days post patch everything was a bit wonky and in some cases Mesmers are still somewhat broke as are ele’s. Couple weeks since things have somewhat toned down and people have adjusted a bit.

Then again, I still enjoy how you and your team navigate and engage. I think more people should learn that tactic.

Shattered Aegis is a phenomenal havoc grp build. The insta-gibb’s are crazy when paired w/ a shatter mesmer as you have a tendency to save their clones from being killed before they shatter ~or~ SD Engi.

Example in that is at 1:18 – not the targeted Ranger, but the guy to the upper right. He gets hit w/ a tripple aegis shatter for 12k.

You can also take Retal. Subconcious over Contender in Virtues for another burstst every 30s on CC’d.

Mace is still a bit difficult, but if you can fit it into your playstyle, there’s another dbl AoE burst every 15s.

It’s a great grp play build w/ Communal Defenses being on such a short cooldown. Lot’s of huge bursts if your grp is running tightly.

NOTE

If you’re run’n solo, i’m inclined to say Radiance is better than Zeal… take alook at zodjin’s solo roaming build…. though I don’t agree with his last vid statement about how bad Zeal is.

Also thanks for the additional information. I’ve actually not played my Guardian much in regards to DPS roam since patch. I’ve been trying to get some form of support to work with a few I roam with when not solo – thief, ele, and necro but not found anything I like. I end up switching back to my Ranger which feels a bit better to play.

Again, appreciate the feedback. I’ll have to do a quick inventory of what my Guardian has and see if I can try some of the ideas out. Bit rusty and the pace is pretty fast on ebay right now due to the match up. Lots of fights I’m getting into I am usually out numbered from the start.

rune of the defender’s aegis does not get applied to allies and shelter already blocks and procs communal defense, it’s entirely redundant and useless.

that and the benefit of only a bit of extra healing power as a runeset makes the set horrible.

Shouts instead of medi, but with AH, and all the boon spam related to aegis, it could be interesting to see for sure. Don’t forget Runes of the Defender proc regen per block, and grants an ~4k heal on the same cooldown as Shelter. Even staying medi, that could be huge burst healing between that and Monks Focus from Smite on heal.

Except for the 6th set bonus will proc immediately upon entering the fight (since you will have Aegis up most likely). So you get a useless 4k heal when you are at max hp. You will have to wait 30 sec before you get it again. Biggest downside of that rune set IMO. The regen on block is nice but you have to give up dps or speed to have that rune set and for roaming its horrible since us guardians are pretty much locked into Traveller/Speed runes unless you are in a group that can provide swiftness.

True the bonus heal is procced early, but that almost guarantees you stagger your shelter and 6th bonus heals, which would be more beneficial imo. Traited Retreat is close enough to +25% that I don’t worry about it, but I realize it’s not for everyone. Playing into the runes really makes this a different build entirely.
