It’d be nice, but I’d still rather be able to, you know… BLOCK… on my shield.
I’d really rather a knockdown simply because I think it’s superior control to Taunt, but I wouldn’t be opposed to the shield getting some love. It does make sense to improve the shield by adding the new status effect to it that guardian in some way will be getting anyways, killing two birds with one stone.
What I don’t like about Taunt though is that it’s the only control that allows them to attack, even if it is only AA. I’d rather the enemy not break my SoW after I CC them to burst them down. It does make it a bit more difficult to set up bursts on a moving target but it’s sure of a lot better than them dodging a WW.

Also you have to remember taunt is a CC and for some reason they don’t like giving the guardian any CC except immobilize.
Would be great if the shield got some serious reworks however, along with the 20+ other weapon skills, traits, utilities, elites etc… that are underperforming, glitchy or just so niche they are never used.
Taunt would be nice to have in; say, on one of our virtues or Shout skills, but it really doesnt make sense for a Guardian. We’re not a manipulative class.
It makes more sense for Mesmers, Warrior and Revenant to have taunt instead.

If this means the Taunted person attacks the Guardian instead of that target attacking your ally, I see maybe having one taunt type skill.

I think the new Resistance Boon is a no-brainer to add to Shield 4. I love Shield and run it exclusively but it lacks the power of Focus.
