Should Healing Breeze be buffed?
Someone discussed previously the idea that it either be a circular area effect around the Guardian that moves with them or a consecration. I kinda like the consecration idea, personally, gives it some interesting uses via traits.

I remember the time when I first saw this skill in beta. I thought it was amazing, I’m gonna build my guardian around high armor, cc and healing my team mates… Then I used this skill and was dissapointed. :/
I’m not even sure how they would fix it to the point that I would actually want to use it over shelter.

The cone has always been reliable for me. Since the buff, this thing heals others for like 4-5k with 1600 healing power.
The problem is that very few people use this skill. Personally, I’d like to see a the nature of it change. People take the skill to help others. So, I suggest keeping the active heal the exact same as it is today, and adding a passive buff. The passive buff would be an aoe heal every second at an amount of 50 + (.1 x heal power).
So basically people have to choose between the passive or using the active burst heal. Might be a way to get people to actually use it.
I think Healing Breeze is pretty good all ready for what it does and the role it’s made for. In my opinion in zergs it’s amazing – I’ve saved so many people from a well used Healing Breeze, and I don’t even gear for Healing Power. It’s more of a ‘heal them’ than ‘heal you’ so of course the other two healing skills will trump Healing Breeze when its concerning you.
During the Mad Realm I saw waaaaay too many zergs fail so I went with more of a support/damage reduction build and it was rewarding. I don’t find that this skill particularly is great if you want to heal just your self….which I think people get confused about when discussing Healing Breeze.
I’m very happy with Healing Breeze how it is, I enjoy shooting heals at people, may sound weird but I enjoy the way it functions, it’s part of why I love healing in WvW on my Guard, I used it for a long time before the buff too. No complaints, seems totally balanced to me.
Like everything though it’s totally situational, I believe the reason hardly any Guards use it is cause they haven’t tried it since the buff, unless you put yourself out there in harms way all the time and you’re squishy I think more Guardians should use it regardless of their healing power, the common Guardians out there who are already so tanky should try living without Shelter and throw some heals at their friend that’s getting pressured.

For a class that is designed with terrible long range attacks Healing breeze is terrible, for if you are not standing at the front. You most likely don’t know what you or your commander is coordinating.
And since Healing breeze is not on yourself and on a additional allies around you, it will in most cases miss. Currently it is not in need of a “buff”, but it is in need of a mechanic change. Where it heal around you rather than infront of you.

you have no clue what youre talking about. organized groups are stacked pretty kitten tight. all you have to do is be in the fronline (which you should be anyway). aim at a clump of guildies and let it rip.

Quoted for being incorrect and ignorant.
If you can’t aim a wide cone effect skill at a group of players that are reasonably nearby, you shouldn’t be playing this game at all. The Guardian also gets a heal out of it as well.
I’ve seen this skill heal an absurd amount of HP – each tick is about, what, 1.6k with relatively low Healing Power and it ticks what, 4 times or so? That’s quite a bit for healing party members in this game.
it did get buffed. read the patch notes.
as for the cone effect, it sounds like you want a new skill altogether.
Well when i am at the front, that means i am at the front. Not behind them but at the front. What i could do is dodge backwards and use the skill assuming i don’t get caught by all the AoE fields that are getting placed on or behind the melee train.
And for the ammount it heal, that was never questioned. They do keep buffing it however, and it was good even before they did. Yet they keep buffing it, wonder why.

I don’t care if Healing Breeze gives out kittenjobs and ice cream. I’d never use it over Shelter.

HB is situational. really, it’s only appropriate for Cleric guards who can justify giving up Shelter or Signet for big group heals. HB + VoR + MI can heal 5 stacked people (including yourself) for over 10k in 3.5 seconds. think on that for a sec. add dodge roll, staff and shield heals and youre pushing close to 20k aoe heals in a matter of seconds, if your group is stacked well.
healbot support guards have always been viable, and if youre rolling with a bunch of good players who can actually make good use of the heals and boons, you’re making a huge difference.
i dont think HB is viable in any other type of build. i used it before the buff sometimes, but now it’s mandatory for support style of play imo. the thing ticks for 1400 since the buff if youre Cleric. 3x 1400 in a wide cone.
Positioning is a problem when you’re in the front? Seriously? You pop HB, turn your character to whatever degree that your allies are from your front, and turn back when it’s done. Thatz hard??
HB is more for carrying badz than anything else. But that doesn’t make it a bad skill.
Positioning is a problem when you’re in the front?
This is exactly the problem.

I just want to clarify here. In what context is this conversation? Open world, spvp, WvW or dungeons?

My perspective always comes from spvp and to a extent wvw.

Could be made slightly less situational by healing based on the amount of players around, the less players, the more they’re healed for.
I can’t stand the cone. If you’re in melee and attacking a monster, you have to deselect the monster, face an ally you want to heal, and then use it. It’s extremely clunky. IMO it should be omnidirectional, and making it a consecration sounds like an even better idea. Drop it on the ground like that Necromancer healing well. That would be neato.

…. You seriously have to de-select the monster? Last I remember using it I just turned my Guardian to face my allies and hit Healing Breeze. I never had to select an ally to use it or de-select the monster we were fighting. That sounds like you need to toggle your auto-targeting sort of game options.
I haven’t used it in probably a year, so it may be different since they changed up some of the targetting code this past summer. It used to be very frustrating to use in that respect.

Try hitting allies in pvp with it. Very difficult. And for pve is a annoyance. There is a reason why not many people use it and hint its not because they don’t know what they are doing.

wrong. it’s because they dont know what theyre doing. HB is powerful if you’re cleric. face allies, spam 4.2k heals.
…but but but…. Might of the Protector + Shelter!
I use that trait all the time but it’s pretty much a wasted trait without Shelter, your only other blocking options are mace, focus and aegis and they will usually block far, far fewer times than Shelter.
Until Healing Breeze gets some interesting trait synergy like that, I doubt I’ll switch. Healer’s Retribution doesn’t count! :P Having it as a consecration would make me think about it.

40s recharge for a healing slot is rather discouraging.
it means THEY got me for " neg criticism in clever disguise".
Know that it has been fun and I love ya all.

I agree, a shorter cooldown wouldn’t hurt.

Necros deal with the same thing with their Well of Blood. Their party heal is 40s as well. The difference is, it’s a Well – so they can trait it down to 32.
