Is good the sigil of hydromancy in a AH GS/scepter-focus guardian?

Sometimes i change the scepter for sword or both for hammer.

I fell a lot of lack of soft CC in the guardian, cripple or chill. The majority of times the enemy just run away far from my melee attacks, and i dont have a high damage output with scepter only. I can use chains and jumps (GS3 or sword2) but they just jump away again or run more with passive signet or swiftness and kite me.

Someone have tested this sigils to improve that point in wvw?

It works well enough, the problem is that it can prevent you from making use of on-crit sigils which is a little bit of a bummer. Shared cooldown and all that. The neat thing about it though is that it’s also a direct damage AOE, and it hits for about as much as a first autoattack swing. Not bad.

Sigil of hydromancy is a very good option for a melee only build, particularly for roaming. I have exotic greatswords and swords with sigils of flame, leeching, battle and hydromancy. Hydromancy is my go to set for roaming, since it offers solid, on demand aoe damage, does not depend on crits/random rolls and gives some much needed slowing to help keep enemies in range and help create distance when running away.

That said, I would not use hydromancy with any set other than GS&Sword. You need the mobility skills from both weapons to keep your opponent in range so that the hydromancy novas do not go to waste. If you use a ranged weapon like scepter or staff you likely won’t able to keep your targets within melee range often enough to make them worthwhile.

Fishergrip, i am trying GS/Sword with rare items right now (i am so poor, i only play wvw..)

I feel dual sigil hydromancy aoe fit better with both melee than one range. And give me more mobility with that blink.

I tested it yesterday night, that sigil is amazing. In dual i cast aoe chill every 9 seconds. I jump on someone (GS3 or Sword2) swap weapons and chill him for 3 seconds.

Chill is too powerful in this game. More for a guardian with lack of soft CC to keep enemies in melee range.

Unless you’re running it on both weapon sets and swapping every 9 second with the 5 second trait, you’re doing it every 10 seconds at most.

i love dual hydromancy sigils in WvW (ie on both weapon sets). i feel like the excel is small man fights. or even 1v1+’s. on GS and sword definitely helps when you can jump/port to your opponent, and then swap and ensure yuo get more hits in on your WW or sword 3, in many other cases might completely be dodged out of.

if they don’t have readily have cleanses, it gets pretty annoying for them especially with the added Cds to their skills. and like you said, every 10s or so, you can AoE dmg and chill again. definitely melee.
