Not only that but the duration is reduced aswell, what on earth is the point in a trait to increase the duration of a skill IF the trait doesn’t affect the skill?.
Sure i know it’s just 1 skills for now, but this is 2 weeks in a row that ret has been nerfed, so who knows how long until all ret is reduced on all skills and the trait is removed.

perhaps they’re going to buff retaliation as a skill so it’s instant death for the foolish warrior that uses hundred blades, but don’t want to wreck sPvP in case they haven’t nerfed all the exploitables yet.
The retaliation must be nerf. As for the trait? They don’t care right now.
It’s ridiculous to have one trait specially not applied to a specific skill. I think Vengeful is the first one.
It’s stupid. Tooltips are already not informative enough in this game. Don’t put in specific exceptions to trait benefits on skills that should clearly be receiving the benefit from the trait in question.
Seriously? A 3 second retaliation boon is okay, but a 4.25 second one is so overpowered that we need to specifically prevent a trait that should apply from working, thus hampering the clarity and intuitiveness of the trait system? Over a 1.25 second difference?
Sorry but let me get this straight they are nerfing Retaliation because other players are too dumb to cancel their multi-hit crit builds? Retaliation is the only solution to stop those players. Guardians have the highest Toughness in the game and they still take insane damage from Warriors and Thieves using builds with 70-80 even 100% crit chance builds. Protection doesn’t help! 33% less damage for a hit doing 800+ per hit for 6-9 hits over 2-3 seconds is still too much damage. Retaliation is the counter for Crit not Protection and even then a tanky Guardian has to sacrifice health and Toughness for Power if they want Retaliation to do enough damage in order to threaten multi-hit crit builds.
These changes are simply unintelligent
i agree that this feels strange. This signet was one of my utility skills. Back to the drawing board now i guess.
Yeah, I think if it’s only 3 1/2s then you might as well just use bane for a 2s kd…at least then they’re not hitting you.
I assume Vengeful will be changed fairly soon. Since they say they want to push retalation into another direction I guess the new trait will be something like “Retaliation deals more damage” or “Take less damage while under the effects of Retaliation”. It would make no sense to say they don’t want it to be permament, yet still give us a trait to increase the duration.
It’s okay that Arenanet wants to take Retaliation in a different direction. But having a trait not work on one particular skill is just stupid. Traits are unclear as it is, and this is not helping matters.
I concur with Ynna, you don’t like retaliation OK. But having useless traits, or nerfed greatsword damage because of longer cd is not acceptable.
Agree with Ynna, it effects other skills that give longer retaliation, but not this signet? thats just baffling…
