So what are the next nerf? Let take a guess
Don’t give them anymore bad ideas, please, I’m begging you.
|-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-|
Next nerf : Wall of Reflection will be destroyable within 3 auto attacks.
A couple of weeks ago i’d LOL, now i just have to say be quiet and don’t give them any ideas. 1 thread suggested the 50% save yourselfs nerf and it had less than 30 posts (hardly any of which that thought it was a good idea) in it before the patch.
This is getting a bit of joke now, every patch i think we should expect a massive change to a skill and on the next patch a small change to make up for it (100% iucrease in SoW cooldown = 10% increase in damage).
Zarturo: Elemental – Desolation.
Imagine a wall of reflection nerf down to 5 seconds :<
that 10% increase in damage was so condescending, not only it doesn’t compensate for the DPS loss incurred by longer CD, but it is a blatant bone thrown at us to accept even more nerfs.
Yeah the game gets less fun with each patch. Gj on slowly making me hate logging in to see what else they ruined.
Anet lied (where’s the Manifesto now?)
I expect mighty blow hammer nerf. that will teach them for having a viable offensive weapon!
Yeah… it’s pretty depressing how out of tune the Guardian devs are already with the class. So many great suggestions, such bad implementation…..
Technical Strength – Engineer
Dungeon Master – FotM 46
i really have no words… well they really have not other money from me, because they are really making fun of us -_- .
I accept all the changes, but that +10% damage un sow its a kittening joke, no one asked that… as i say in another thread, i prefer -20% damage but the old cd back with another boon… W.T.F are they thinking!
It doesn’t suck your life away and force you onto a grinding treadmill"
LOL
SY! was way too strong for bunker builds with super boon duration. It’s still an ok ability, just not something EVERY bunker is going to pick.
The +10% to SoW damage is kind of… lame, though. It does feel like a “throw them something so they don’t cry as hard” type of buff.
Next patch:
- Symbols are smaller. Regular size is now melee range and exaltation size is now current regular size.
- Added kitten cooldown to mace auto-attack.
- Fixed a bug that caused scepters to sometimes deal damage.
- Fixed a bug where Chains of Light was immobilizing targets. It now correctly applies cripple for 2s.

so according to you, it is ok to nerf by 50% a core ability in order to nerf a very specific niche, good for nothing else, build among dozens other?
It is totally unreasonable. But it seems the devs in charge of guardian balancing think like that, seeing that the previous nerf affected all symbol builds, just to squash a retaliation build (and failed).
With this reasoning the class is already dead, no need to wait more incoming nerfs.

LOL! I think I may start a funny thread about these types of changes in the future :P

xmas patch:
- blocked access to the Mists, guardians were not supposed to pvp
- +1% damage to SoW to compensate (we listen to community!)
3 things with High nerf potential:
Wall of Reflection
Monk’s Focus
Altrustic Healing
Mark my words, these 3 are probably already in their nerf testing servers and will be nerfed!!!
I think Anet is doing the “nerf it to the ground and then build it up from there” approach…

- We programmed a system where anyone who claims they’ll reroll will have the relevant character automatically deleted.
- Anyone who complains without being constructive about any weapon, will be barred from using that weapon.
- The same is true for any Heal, Utility or Elite skill.
Wall of reflection nerf is the winner! I guarantee they have thought about it already.
Next patch:
- In an attempt to equalize PvP, Guardians will no longer be allowed to equip weapons.
It is ridiculous the number of nerfs they give each time.
You’re all a miserable bunch. :P
I think it’s likely that the next nerf will probably hit Altruistic Healing.
My guess is that they will add a cooldown that restricts you to one AH heal per second, in order to bring it in line with other crap Grand Master traits like the GS healing one.
I’m not so sure about the Wall of Reflection nerf. In PvP, you’re an idiot if you’re killed by it. All you have to do is stop shooting for a few seconds.
In PvE, however… NPCs are idiots and will keep shooting at it. And it’s hilarious.
Given that the PvP/PvE skill discrepancy has been officially precedented with Save Yourselves, I could see this being nerfed in PvE, but not in PvP.
…Or they could improve enemy AI to simply not shoot at a Wall of Reflection. Either way would probably solve that particular problem.
Shelter: No longer blocks.
Heavens Rage
id like to see
“Altruistic HEALING no longer HEALS the player”
its as heavy handed as the recent nerfs but at least this one would give me a chuckle
- “Retreat!” will now invoke fear in you and 5 allies for 20 seconds, matching the swiftness duration. This will allow the skill to live up to its name.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
so according to you, it is ok to nerf by 50% a core ability in order to nerf a very specific niche, good for nothing else, build among dozens other?
Save Yourselves was not nerfed by 50%. It’s main purpose still works 100% as it does, only the side bonus was nerfed because it was beyond broken, and even then, only for spvp. The fact that people don’t realize SY! has two functions implies by itself that something was wrong with the way the skill was being used.
Also, all the nerfs so far have made sense, in my opinion, and outside of the louder fanbase who can’t understand them, many fans have justified the changes with logic. I’m sure more people are willing to share those opinions. I’ll sum up my thoughts:
1. Greatsword had a mindless, overpowered #2->#3->#4 skill sequence that was the absolute best way to play it in pve. The nerf added more gameplay variation, because you no longer will be forced to press 123, 123, 123, 123 in this exact order for the best results, due to changes in recharges. The symbol was the source of the problem, because it was a combo field that fueled 3 combo finishers to aoe retaliation and a lot of condition removal. This sequence is still possible, just less frequent, giving decision making to when you want to blow off your cooldowns for a burst of retaliation + condition removal + huge aoe damage with only 3 skills.
2. Greatsword’s symbol had a double nerf for the fact that it was a retaliation symbol, and retaliation was deemed too strong. I guess somewhere during the changes they noticed that the symbol recharge nerf was too harsh to the weapon as a whole, but a lesser recharge would make that single skill stronger than what they wanted, so they buffed the leap, and now buffed the symbol’s damage slightly. It’s clear, however, that they don’t want to make the weapon as strong as it used to be.
3. Suggesting the removal of retaliation from symbol of wrath and from save yourselves is NOT the solution. They want to weaken retaliation builds, not remove retaliation entirely from the game.
4. Save Yourselves is about saving your party members from their conditions at the cost of your own survival, as both the current name and the old name (Martyr) suggest. The self-boons are there, I can assume, to compensate for the drawback and to not make the skill useless when playing solo. But bathing yourselve with almost all boons in the game for 10s (up to17s) was extremely strong at spvp, anyone who played against a Guardian could see this, and many people were seeing a nerf coming with or without the existance of a topic suggesting a nerf.

@Kita:
Oh man forget my suggestion yours is better. Since the arguement was that save yourselves is nerfed to better use it for its intended purpose, your suggestion would make retreat be used for intended purpose as well.
While were at it make Stand your ground! root you and your allies too
That way all you dirty sinful guardians who have been using Retreat! to charge forward cant do this anymore
It was on a long cooldown and took conditions to compensate. You don’t hammer th carp out of a skill and call it an adjustment. Things like this need to be chipped away to find a solid balance. Everything so far has been too far to the extreme in terms of nerfs.
We’ve already had the perfect suggestion on SY – base 5 seconds with +1 second for every condition collected up to an extra 5 seconds.
You use it and have no conditions you get the new version (5 seconds), you collect 5 conditions you get the old version (10 seconds), simple and effective (works solo with a minor amount, works in a group with a larger amount). I’d even be happy with this made universal (for PvE, PvP and WvWvW) with this change.

OT.
I have a feeling that hammer will be next, considering how often you get the Symbol and can Mighty Blow it for retaliation i expect MB to get double the cooldown. I’m not kidding, after what happened to the GS i actully can picture this happening.
Zarturo: Elemental – Desolation.
SY! is about taking conditions, while giving boons to compensate, not the other way around.
I’m all for Ynna’s nerfs though. Make it happen!

I am guessing all our mele weapons will get CD of 20 seconds +. We are not actually supposed to attack anything more than once a Calendar Year. This will also have the double benfit of making our ranged weapons look stronger.
Anet lied (where’s the Manifesto now?)
Am I the only one that hasnt complained about any change done to the guardian? I guess my builds and my playstyle hasnt been effected at all. When i noticed save yourself gave all boons even if no conditions were drawn to me i knew it was going to see a change at some point.
Im guessing most of you want something like the wow mage where you dont have to play to win. Quit complaining and find other builds that YOU like, not something someone else came up with and is going to be nerfed because its a cheesy build, if an ability is working as intended then it isnt going to be changed.
im not complaining about nerfs in general. I played mesmer in GW1, and it happened to my professon A WHOLE LOT.
The whole problem is theyre doing brain surgery with a chainsaw instead of a scalpel.
Almost every nerf theyve handed to the guardian is heavy handed.
Whats wrong with nerfing little by little until you get the balance right? Thats what they did in GW1 with the exception of the ones they claimed they actually want to be unusable. (Smiters boon)

What you call mindless, the rest of us call ‘elegant’.
The abilities in the weapon dovetailed well with one another and with its trait line.
Tone down the burst damage, sure! Adjust the boons and conditions it applies, sure!
Hobble it, filling it with “dead auto-swing time” and making it completely incongruous with the profession like they just did? Hell no!
You put governors on sports cars to make them street legal, you don’t wreck their suspension, fit them with square tires, or remove 4 of the gears from their transmission.

dont hijack the thread please, it was made for joking about the nerfs. theres plenty of other thread where you can argue.
Halloween special patch:
- added a chance to get guardian costume in the black lion chest
- the guardian costume comes with the original skills
won’t be much left to nerf soon.
