Soldier's vs Knight's
You sure it’s only 90? That’s a lot of precision, assuming you’re also talking accessories too.
Anyway, it mainly hinges on whether you need the crit for on-crit effects. Do you run EM? Do you run on-crit sigils? If so, you should definitely consider it.

yes; vigor on crit alone will outweigh the survivability you gain from soldier
… also; youd be best stating what area of the game this is for; as accurate answers will vary depending on that variable
80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]
Thanks for the replies.

Accessories are Valkyrie’s/Beryl. I don’t yet know what Sigils I’ll be running, but as far as traits go I’m not depending on on-crit effects. Though the overall effective power only increased by about 90, the critical chance almost doubled.

My primary interest is open-world PvE. I run dungeons or and foray into WvW on occasion, but not nearly often enough to let them dictate my gear. And because I spend most of my time in open-world PvE Vigor isn’t exactly a necessity.
It massively helps when you do other things, though. If you don’t have Vigorous Precision, you’d better have a /really/ specific build in mind that doesn’t require it.

I run a mace and shield with a healthy does of defense and health. Vigor isn’t something I need to rely on.
You can always mix pieces of armor, that’s what I did. I have a few pieces of knights and soldiers so I get decent prec, power, and still have some vitality. And I think soldier’s gear has higher power stat than knight’s, but knight’s has a higher def stat,
Knight’s gives more raw DPS than soldier’s in all cases. See the numbers in my post at the bottom here (ignore the OP, I dunno what that guy is talking about):
Also note that you can make knight’s slightly less anemic by mixing in ruby jewels on your accessories, although it’s still pretty bad, DPS-wise.
