“Trait Changes

First off, we’ve got a ton of trait changes coming up. Many traits that were less than desirable have been brought up in effectiveness, while others have been shuffled around and merged together to make room for new traits to be introduced. In doing this, we’ve created several new grandmaster traits for quite a few trait lines. For example: elementalists have a new grandmaster Air trait that allows them to recharge their air attunement, necromancers now have access to the burning condition, and warriors will have an option to remove conditions when using burst abilities.

With these changes in mind, we are going to be making a few builds a little harder to achieve due to their extreme effectiveness. Some traits will go up in tier while increasing in potency to promote build variation.”

I see this as the foreshadow of a foreboding age.

I would say EM going to grandmaster, but almost all AH builds run 30/30 anyways… maybe make EM go to Zeal to promote build diversity… would make more sense than it being in the honor traitline anyways lol.

I think it’s going to be more than just that, but I’m also hoping not.

Well, considering they stated that guardian’s are in a good place right now and they didn’t see the need to make any critical changes to guards the last few months.

Also reading the changes, they seem to be oriented to necro/thief/warrior/elementalist/mesmer…granted it is just a snippit of the whole upcoming patch.

I don’t think we are going to see anything too major with us. A majority of our good traits are really far down the tree anyway and we build 30/30 most of the time as it is.

We do know every trait line got at least 1 change if I remember the quote correctly. As well as they mentioned they are trying to add build diversity, so lets hope for something more than honor/valor/virtues.

I’m going to share your hopefulness in this patch, but I just can’t help getting that foreboding feeling.

There’s still several traits in those three lines that you’ve mentioned that need fixing/removing/buffing too though.

I wouldn’t be surprised if renewed justice gets moved up to a t3 or t2 major trait.

If vigorous precision and inspired virtue get moved up it will really change the dynamic of a lot of builds

well, if you check reddit, they have the unconfirmed/unofficial leak of the upcoming changes that seem in-line with what little info anet has mentioned so far. if those leaked notes are correct, there isn’t anything to really get excited about for guardians.

IF the zeal changes are real, I already know a possible build I might switch to, but idk, will have to wait and see.

like you mentioned elsewhere, Zeal could be easily worth going 20 into.

but yes, we’ll have to wait and see. not holding my breath right now. but i don’t feel there’ll be major overhauls to the Guardian builds currently. just hope they don’t really tune down what they feel are “too strong” right now, to avoid the power creep they mentioned. ://

I see nothing wrong with more options. That is all.

I agree with that 100%…EM would fit way better in zeal…and move some of that symbol stuff out of zeal

Guards are not in a good position, with AH build being that good there’s no need to go for other builds, we need more build diversity, something needs to change.

Oh, I’ve seen plenty of builds that don’t take AH and are even better for their respective purpose. The only trait line that really needs to be reworked is Zeal, since that is used only in some more or less useless niche builds.

Agree with CptAurellian. AH is great if your build doesn’t have a focus on anything in particular. When you bring in more specialized builds, a lot of them don’t take AH and perform perfectly well. Zeal is currently the only guardian trait line that doesn’t see more than 10 points used in common builds. All the others commonly see 30 points invested.
