Not sure it’s a bug, or it’s just the design.
If you don’t have a target, you cast staff 2, the orb will go into the ground just in front of you + hit nothing. Shouldn’t it suppose to just travel the direction you face no matter you have a target or not?

It does, if you aim in front of you. Aim in the ground, it goes there. Aim in the air, it goes there.

Why it didn’t work for me that way>? Did you de-select auto-target?
For me it’s like:

Sample 1 : cursor on canon (but not select it), orb go into the ground in front of me. — of coz hit nothing……

Sample 2 : downed player just in front of me, and cursor on him (but not select him), orb go into the ground (where he laid down), it passed through his body, but do no damage……

It has nothing to do with your cursor, it is about your camera angle. When you see your toon looking at the back of his/her head you are actually looking at a downward angle. Try look up into the sky with nothing selected and use #2 and you will see the orb fly into the air

I know what you mean CRrabbit. Trying to use that thing while facing away from an enemy is nearly impossible without shaking your entire screen trying to aim it somewhere besides your feet.

Wish they’d fix it.

Thanks for the tip. Tried it last night, it worked! First time to know this trick!
But unfortunately my Guardian is a super tall Norn, so I always overlook other chars while playing, no wonder my orb always go into the ground in front of my feet. I guess if I use small asura it will be better? If this is true , this design is kinda raxxxxxism……

I made an asura guardian once, height is adjusted but the camera angle is exactly the same. Why we have no 1st person view in this game is beyond me.

ye the camera angle is the same (have Norn and Asura Guard). but just don’t let the perception fool ye. it’s tricky to use, but when it connects, the damage is not bad. but if you’re on a giant Norn, you will have a split second of seeing nothing but yourself when you aim and fire lol
