I’ve been playing a Staff Guardian for over a month now. Good mix of healing and damage. I was wondering with the changes to world bosses will Staff Guardians become even more viable? We can do some serious healing in groups.

During the initial days of champion farming Staff Guardians were in high demand especially if they farmed champ fire in Cursed Shore.

Staff being a good mix of healing and damage? First of all, healing will always be next to useless in this game because most bosses rely on 1 shot mechanics, and aoe heals barely heal anything. And staff is one of the worst weapons in the game for damage, it’s more used for it’s utility being Empower and Line of warding. If you absolutely want to be some sort of “healing” support, go with mace/shield

Mace/focus, shield is like a glass of water on the sun. Of course mace itself is just junk may as well use a sword. Yeah sword/focus sounds good.

funny thing is that staff guardian is going to be more useful than all the squishy zerkers running around since 2/3 of the zerker stats don’t do anything to world bosses.

and ppl will have to waste their precious time rezzing zerkers.
and not to mention staff guardians can easily do more healing than some classes own healing skill.

Staff guardians can pack a bunch to massive groups when buffed, which they can give themselves. Also everyone loves symbol of swiftness (besides the guardian that casts it, thinking they’ll run faster, but really a stupid deer runs over it and you’re in combat).

Staff guardians can pack a bunch to massive groups when buffed, which they can give themselves. Also everyone loves symbol of swiftness (besides the guardian that casts it, thinking they’ll run faster, but really a stupid deer runs over it and you’re in combat).

Although for some reason this not listed anywhere on the official wiki Symbol of Swiftness also remove conditions for anyone standing in it! I’ve seen it so many times. I use on myself in fights where conditional damage happens a lot. I have a feeling there’s going to be some serious conditions with these new bosses. People will want classes with AOE condition removals.

Yes. Staff guardians. To massive groups. 1vs1 even fully buffed staff is still weaker than scepter.
Guardian’s staff is a zerg vs zerg weapon, used in WvW and for mob farming. Against Teq it’s mostly useless.

Even if you can’t crit Tequatl, the zerkers are going to be more useful because they’re build to do damage, instead of being a “healer”. I’m also pretty sure it’s a lot easier to be carried around everywhere by the zerkers, while you’re at range probably doing zero damage.

And what precious time are you wasting on the zerkers? Time waving your staff, or time healing everyone with Orb of Light (788 (0.6) healing is very impressive btw). And I’m curious what healing skill you’re outhealing with staff btw

Healing is great. Self-healing, that is. Number 4 skill combined with altruistic healing and a zerg outstrips any other heal skill i have seen so far. The area heals from 2 and 4 however are nothing great.

Actually that’s because Symbol of Swiftness is a light field, all projectile finishers will remove a condition. It’s due to the combo mechanic not about the skill itself.

A bad player in Berserker’s gear will improve. A good player in Berserker’s gear won’t need PVT morons to rez him.

Staff is a fantastic option for WvW. Our 5 man occasionally rolls double staff guards. We both pop empower when the fight starts, have fun fighting a group of 5 with 25 stacks of might.

Line of warding is obviously a disgustingly effective tool for WvW. Helps us disengage from larger numbers, I also place it right behind their front line to cut off their numbers/block rezzers when getting the stomp.

Orb isn’t amazing but its a nice touch.

Symbol is incredibly frustrating though. As someone said pve mobs routinely walk into them putting you into combat.

PVE its just an OK option IMO, wvw and pvp its very useful.

Apparently, you all missed a key word: PULLED. =.=

he didn’t mean a literal pull as in a binding blades pull or a mesmer focus pull. but rather “hey, can you pull that group of mobs over here while we stack?”

and with the staff, since AA can hit through objects as explained preivously, you would be able to continue to LoS the mobs while you “pull”.

[added for fun: with the right build, and/or group, and/or situation, the staff can easily be the best weapon on hand XPPP]
