Guys I have a question about how Strength in Numbers is meant to work. Since the new patch it’s now meant to give +70 toughness to nearby allies (depending on lv).

I was online with my brou last night and was in fractals and thought I would put it on to check if it worked, he also put it on.

It didn’t seem to do anything, I checked my toughness and he checked his and they did not change at all.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

It only activates once you enter combat, at least when I was testing it solo in the Mists. It does seem like it should be active all the time though as soon as you select the trait.

I have since re-read Arena Nets recent patch notes.

“Strength in Numbers: Now activates more quickly when entering combat, and scales from 0-70 defense instead of being capped at 30.”

It would appear that it does only activate in combat.

It does not state this at all from the trait with in game, So I think this is something Arena Net needs to change.

I tested this in WvW and people were reporting getting the bonus out of combat.

Well, if the trait worked on yourself it would be easy to test.

It does work, and it does apply to yourself (at least in the mists and spvp where I have tested).

You will see an icon in your boon/condition list that looks like the trait symbol in your trait list.

Take the buff and get into combat by falling damage or one of the test dummies and you can verify it works.

Oh, so it does work on yourself? I’ll have to play around with it later. Honestly, I didn’t even go in combat to test it. I just turned it on, asked some people, and went on my merry way.

To clarify I did some testing last night, I can confirm this move does work on yourself as soon as you go in to combat.

I think the issue here is the wording for the trait in game, it does not say you need to be in combat so is a bit misleading.

I think some simply rewording by Arena Net would be helpful here.
