I think it would be better to change the shout “Retreat” to “Charge” and the corresponding shout dialogue. It’s a little odd when I’m doing a dungeon or wvw and were all running forward and my character shouts retreat!?

It’s even more unsettling and confusing when activating all of my shouts and it says, “Stand Your Ground” followed by “Hold the Line” followed by “Retreat” lol?

Charge would be good or something like it since it has to do with sprinting.

Totally agree. “Retreat” just doesn’t fit the situation. But voice over stuff rarely gets changed.

“Lead the Way!” would be a nice name for it. It references a paragon skill too.
“Charge” would have the same problem retreat does. In this case, it’d sound inappropriate when using it to actually retreat.

I agree with Fashion Mage, although I find “Brace Yourself” a nice shout because of the actual aegis.

There’s already a Warrior wh Skill called Charge so you would have to think for a different name. You cal always use your imagination and think your Guardian is shouting at his foes “I wanto you to… Retreat!” when charging to them.

Does your guardian shout “Hold the Line”? Think it’s been bugged for a while. I can be wrong, haven’t used that skill in a very long time.

I’ve never heard my guard actualy shout “Hold the line”. Whenever I use the skill he rather says “refreshing!” or “Armour up!”…

Its because there was an audio bug with those lines, so the easiest thing was to remove the shout, so you instead hear the regen or protection boon sayings.

Also, retreat was named after a GW1 skill, so it’ll likely stay. It’s not a big problem, nor even a problem worth caring about imo. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22Retreat!%22

Nope nope nope. I think if it should be changed to anything, it should be changed to “Watch Yourselves!”

There’s numerous aspects from GW1 that wasn’t added to GW2. Changing it wouldn’t matter. Ironically, I recently used the shout in a tpvp match, I heard the voice “Retreat” when we just hit middle. Awkward.
“Make Haste” makes more sense.

Also is there a way to disable character voice dialogs? It’s highly annoying, especially in heart of the mists and hearing 20 people say “I feel stronger now”

Good choices for renaming “Retreat!” would be things things like “Double Time!”, “Move it!” or what Dirame said “Make Haste!”. For multiple purpose meanings such as chasing, fleeing, or just speeding up in general.

I’m pretty sure they were contracted, not ANet employees.

Part of the reason I love my Norn Guardian so much is because she’s voiced by Claudia Christian (of Babylon 5 fame).

So sad that this will never happen, since there’s so little reward to the cost of doing more voice acting for the class. I hereby volunteer to re-voice all racial quotes for one race/gender combo, gratis. :P

Anyway, blue sky I’d go for, “Forward!” That covers both of the buffs as well as the feeling of the class as a sort of phalanx anchor. Whether advancing on a position or retreating and regrouping you are encouraging an armored push forward.

OMG yes! But not for guardians… If they give elementalists a shout based on attunement, that needs to be the earth version. (And “Flame imperishable!” for fire… The thought gives me goosebumps.)

This has been asked since Beta, I believe. There’s no reason to expect it’s going to happen. My personal favorite is “Make Haste!”
