[Suggestion]Tomes as kits.
yes makes the most sense. or at least as Environmental weapons like eles. But prefer kits…
I like it, but…the thing is, regardless of what they are classified as, guardian won’t have enough to fill a set. They seem to be avoiding giving professions less than four a skill type, so we would have to wait until guarding got more “kits” to fill the set.
Yes! I just suggested exactly the same thing. And it would make much more sense as an elite spec rather than freakin traps that aren’t even ground targeted.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
Kits are way to integral to the Engineer’s identity, pretty much a secondary class mechanic. I can accept tome kits as the base of a future elite spec, but not as part of vanilla guardian.

Kits could be renamed to be more general a term for all classes, such as sets.

It’s not really about the name. Engineers were balanced around kits and kits influence their playstyle the most.
A guardian with kits would be a heavy armoured engineer with a fixed tool belt and the ability to weapon swap.
At least ele’s elemental weapons try to be unique.
Tomes as used by the guardian are more similar to summond weapons by the elementalist. But in future use as a kind of kit sounds good.
Elementalist would my first bet with Tome of Water(healing), Tome of Fire/Air/Earth(utility) and Tome of Arcane(Elite)
Necromancer the second bet with Tome of Blood(healing), Tome of Curses/Souls/Death(Utility), and Tome of the Summoner(Elite -summon many minions!!!)
Ofcourse the Guardian. With five tomes for him
If these changes end up happening I think it’s because they plan to turn Tomes into an actual weapon class.
Who wouldn’t want to wield a magical book as a weapon!?
100% behind the idea of tomes being future guardian kits. I mean we already have Marks and Traps being practically the same thing with just different flavor added to them. And now we have Necro wells and future Mesmer wells. No huge identity crisis erupted there. I don’t see why mechanics couldn’t overlap here as well.

Wouldn’t mind at all since I already use the Arcanus Obscurus-skin on my focus Reading is radical!

the point is, all classes are getting class skill types from other classes now. Engineers before this change, never had elite kits. These could be elite kits for us but with the trade off of locking 6-0 like before while in use.
This would give that elite spec a brand new way to play using their tomes.
This is an idea that I’ve supported for a really long time. While the proposed changes into a shout and a signet would be fine with me, I’d LOVE to see tomes become kit-style skills that can be used freely, with increased cooldowns on the individual skills to compensate.

This isn’t about making it part of the core Guardian class. I popped on the forums this morning to literally post what OP did about tomes as kits for a future elite specialization.
There would obviously need to be reworks, and that could be done now especially if they’re considering removing them from the game as they are. Some ideas I had were a long-range light-based tome with blinds, a short-range fire-based tome with burning (maybe smoke), a mid-range healing tome with regens, and a mid-range support tome with condition clearing and boons.

That’s why I said:

There’s not much merit in discussing a future second specialization at this point, though. It won’t happen any time soon, and we still don’t know everything there is to know about the current ones yet.
