Lvl 70 Guardian here…

Specced with mainly precision/conditions and power, with a little toughness/vitality. Greatsword is my main weapon, with swap as sword and shield.

I feel like I die too quickly in dungeons. For example, in CM the first boss and the door guard mop the floor with me often, as well as most other melee in my group.

I stack the burn hard, and am constantly sacrificing my virtues for my party, as well as using other defensive or supportive skills. Still, I find it very hard. Dodge only does so much in certain fights, often unpredictable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as dungeons are my goal for end game.

In CM I suggest bringing wall of reflection. It is very helpful for all the ranged characters there. You can place it between you and the ranged character while you take down the non-ranged characters.

A victor gives no quarter when the victor shows no clemency or mercy
and refuses to spare the life in return for the surrender at discretion (unconditional surrender)
of a vanquished opponent.

Scepter/focus + mace/shield.
1st setup to DPS from range, 2nd for healing symbol, aoe protection, projectile block.

So your party just avoids melee combat and you buff/heal/protect them and dps with your scepter.
