Swiftness is a boon that increases in duration, so as expected, after running through a Symbol of Swiftness, I am granted 8 seconds of swiftness and then can add another 20 seconds when I use “Retreat!”. 28 seconds of +33% speed before traits.

So why is it then that if I use “Retreat!” before I run through Symbol of Swiftness, I don’t get the extra 8 seconds of swiftness? The visual boon timer resets but the duration of the boon counts down to the same time as it did when I initially shouted.

I think this is a bandaid to prevent people from standing in Symbol of Swiftness and getting 60s of swiftness. I think every field swiftness works like this.

Just cast the symbol first then retreat. shrug

I was gonna post about this as well but you beat me to it.
If you cast “Retreat”,“Save yourselves” before entering the symbol of swiftness it works as intended but if you do the opposite it doesn’t.
Even if your swiftness boon is under 8seconds, lets say you enter the symbol with 3seconds left on your swiftness,it will only add 1second to your boon instead of boosting it to at least 8seconds.
This to me seems like a bug or an oversight.The symbol should at least add +8seconds once or at least increase your swiftness to 8seconds if your current duration is lower.

Yeh it’s messy like that.

Plus sometimes it adds a very short duration Swiftness (like 2s)

And sometimes it doesn’t add Swiftness at all when you run through it with nothing.

This is in the known guardian bug compilation at the top of this forum.

On an slightly unrelated note, movement speed is reduced while health is low, correct? Or am I crazy? Because I’m under the impression that even with swiftness applied, if your health is low enough, then your movement speed won’t actually increase.

It only happens when you use your own Symbol of Swiftness.

If you run over other Guardians Symbol of Swiftness it’ll refresh to 12s, but if you run over your own it always goes 4s.
