Sword auto 3 is unreliable
projectiles are slow
Is really bad, due it stands you in a place, misses most of attack past 200 unit range (except against non movable targets), gets canceled if you moves and the damage spike is meh (even landing all the hits) taking in consideration that is a single target skill.
The only decent feature is the projectile defense. The autoattack and the teleport are good tools, but sword 3 needs some love from the developers.
Yes, we know. It’s because some kitten at Anet got obsessed with the thought of a melee weapon being projectile-based.
Also, OP is talking about the third hit in the autoattack, not the 3 skill. Come on, guys.

The third hit on the auto chain should be scratched and remade. It’s just a poorly designed skill. Sword Wave is a cone attack, so it misses often unless lined up straight on where as most melee attacks have a wider attack width. And the kicker is that you can eat half of your melee damage from reflect.
Remaking it would solve both issues with the difficultly in landing (which you do get use to as you play it) and eating half your damage on an AA rotation. The simple solution would be to make the third chain skill either unblockable or at the least not able to be reflected.
And then there’s the fact that it’s the only sword with no access to cripple. My vote would go to replacing the third strike with a 2s crippling strike.
negative, sword auto #3 is in a good spot.
I mean you can’t even hit half the environmental objects with it but….sword is in a good spot, for sure!
Auto 3# is ok but what the hell is with sword 3# skill? it says 8x hit dmg but it deal 3 or in some lucky situations 4×...wtf? Bug or what. Same is with GS, it says 7x but it hit 4 maybe 5 if you are close to target.

Personally I’m hoping they just change it to a pure melee attack.
But then again there are a good 20+ traits, 4 weapon abilities etc… that have needed looked at since launch that are not worth using, they are glitched or just plain leftover from closed beta when so many things worked differently.

It also “Absorbs” projectiles but says it “blocks”.
Not to mention the fact that even accounting for the last auto attack missing a good portion of the time it is still a DPS loss to use the sword #3.
