Does anyone else feel the same? I am noticing it most in pvp when I desperately need the blind from focus4 or the projectile block from sword 3, they are incredibly awkward to start casting and feel like you’re trying to turn a rusty crane. That and the fact that 90% of sword 3 hits just seem to not connect with their target. It’s a cool combo but imo this stuff needs fine tuning

DPS guardians in pvp are already strong as they are, with recent fury buffs, they are even stronger. If their attacks are to be more accurate and hit more often, it will make them overpowered. They can already beat hambow warriors, any thief, necros, some mesmers, and stalemate with eles. You have to use your skills at the best opportune time because although they may feel sluggish, they are incredibly bursty.

Sword is not bursty at all. Sword 3 may look like burst, but it sure doesn’t hit like burst. Mace, hammer, great sword and even scepter have better burst options, sword is for sustained DPS and lots of constant pressure. That said, it does have an awkward feel about it, and the auto chain animations are very strange and not fluid at all.

It doesn’t look like burst is because you are not getting all this hits in, if they all hit, its burst. You have to use it in a way for them to all hit. Scepter immobilize and switch to sword 2, 3 is incredibly bursty. Sword is not constant DPS because you can’t ever stick to a target long enough to do any damage.

Between the startup and the aftercast delay, it’s not very bursty at all. It does about the same amount of damage in about the same amount of time as just plain autoattacking.

ya, focus is great, longer CD’s but overall pretty solid.

sword on the other, i just started with for pve and WvW and i agree its great sustained and if you spread it out to key attacks it has enough blinds but the #2 attack is to short of range and clunky, the auto attacks cone finisher is to narrow and im still not sure about 3. is it supposed to be for finishing someone off when they run or is it another shield while a ranged takes pot shots while you close the gap and are still to far out for leap of faith?.

anyone have any good tips and tricks with it?

i would gladly change the cone finisher on auto for a blast finish.. lol

The startup on Sword #3 and Focus #4 feel very slow, especially Focus #4; you don’t even have to dodge Focus #4, you just need to walk behind the caster and it fizzes out.

Incredibly bursty? Using Sword 2? Yeh the 1/2 second aftercast delay before being able to use any weapon attack really adds to the burst.

Against any competent opponent they are dodge rolling away by the time Zealot’s Defense starts to activate.

The way to get burst out of Sword is to pre-cast Zealot’s and use Judges Intervention to get on top of your target while it is channeling, otherwise it won’t hit.

This of course uses up a stun break and 2k heal just to initiate combat.

I have to agree Ray of Judgment is really wonky at sometimes. It gets canceled a lot.

Yeah the ‘sustained dps’ thing doesn’t sit with me tbh, auto attack chain is more sustained damage than sword3, sword 3 should be about; burst, blocking projectiles and hitting at range, and it’s incredibly awkward to do any of those things atm with how clunky the aiming and casting is.
