You can use it while not facing at your target
Also it doesnt move… so enemies can teleport away and let it spin in place
Also it can get stuck bc of objects
You can force more dodges with it

I tried it out. In spvp it may be a good contender. You can match the damage from ToF (from a single crossing of the barrier) with about 2 hits from the sword. It can provide some on point pressure and be great for cleaving downs as well. Since it’s ranged it also works a bit better with sets involving longbow.
In Wvw though, ToF’s damage is simply superior (It takes 3 crits in a row from sword to barely match the damage of a single ToF crit), plus it gives you protection.
This is how we use it ;)
(sorry, condi meta incoming)
Sword of Justice is used in combination of Scepter. It’s a ranged version of Proc of Blades except it’s 5x more useful against ranged classes.
I would post a pre-patch DH burn guide because i’m sure people have questions but… the expansion is right around the corner so it wouldn’t really matter. Just know Radiance gives crit and dps, enough to replace Valor. Don’t need medi sustains when their team is in downed state.
The build gives you 80% crit so you’ll hit like Paladins but aoe DPS like a glass Carrion condi build. Compared to other condi DH builds, this is probably the most difficult to play. Reason: Micro managing SoJ, Virtues, and learning how to survive with SYG & CoP stunbreakers when faced against a Mes/Thief/Rev burst comp.
The build is glass with a huge ass cannon. It makes me hype for the expansion. Still a bit weary about the Firebrand tree vs other class’s elite specs though.

The spirit weapons are very easy to side step. For downed players it provides good cleave (sword) but with how often players are moving, it fails to hit more than it would compared to ToF.
Currently its bugged so it doesn’t dish out the VoJ procs like it should, gonna do more testing to see what a fixed version can do.
But as far as power spec goes, ToF is still better imo because of the no cast time.
Spirit weapons are bugged and don’t appy burning from the trait, hopefully Sword applies it with every tick of damage.
I’m not very impressed, guardian doesn’t have any pets now and they feel lazy to me when 2 of them are weapon skills we already have (sword, shield).
The cast times need to be reduced, hammer needs to be ground-targeted, otherwise the blast finisher is useless, and shield needs to be instant-cast and a stun breaker, like it used to be.
In sPvP ToF is still far better. SoJ is just so easily avoidable… You have to be blind or unconscious to eat a SoJ.

Of course, they just used pathing of ranger pets with spirit weapons aka most horrible hit on movement
Sword is surprisingly really good in terms of dmg
If Sword of Justice worked exactly like Mesmer’s Mantra of Pain (I think 1 second cooldown between uses) then it’d be worth a look.
As of now, ToF still is much better as it also applies a cripple effect and can get more burst out of it with push and pulls.

This too. They placed the count recharge at 25s and the cooldown in between casts at 8s. So you really don’t have the option to use all 3 charges as a “burst,” it’s ONLY used as DPS. If you try to use the sword to burst (on cooldown), you will be using it once per 8 seconds. By the time you use the third charge, the first charge will have already been regained…
The cool down between casts should be around 2-5 seconds.
