T1/2/3 Zergfest Build
everything is relative to your play style. i run with around 3k armor 1k healing but again its relative. so i cant really give u an answer. if u say what u want to do in a more specific way i might be able to help
Ofcourse, we don’t want to give our builds away, but as a community we can give some “Direction” in terms of Trait Distribution and Generalized Gear Numbers….
This is nonsense, why would someone think they have the perfect build that works wonders and only they were able to come up with it?
Anyway, I’ve tried 3 builds mostly:
1. 30/0/10/30/0
Symbol build with Greatsword and Staff. Sorta good since I have a below average range damage with Symbol of Swiftness and Orb of Light, while keeping the good support.
I kill bunkers pretty easy, other (non-smart) melees as well if they come inside the Symbols (I don’t go out unless I’m out of anti-ranged options).
Very mobile opponents (roamers in general) are annoying and give me a hard time.
Good for scaring/downing glass cannons in zergs, sometimes my auto-attack hits for 2k+ (non crit).
2. 10/0/30/30/0
Greatsword, Sword & Shield, Staff, I find this good since I’m able to stay pretty long in fights without dropping combat thanks to AH and Empower, but I feel pretty weak and sluggish… I don’t feel as I’m contributing much to get kills.
I do live longer though.
I always run from bunkers with this build after a 10min~ fight that goes nowhere.
3. 0/30/10/30/0
Sword & Shield and Scepter & Focus, I find this one excellent for 1v1s on the road and even siege just because of the Scepter, but I’m even less tough than the Zeal build since I don’t use Symbols or Zealous Blade or Staff to heal, but I feel that my damage output is way higher even than the Zeal build. Probably because of the fast Sword attacks, since I don’t lose too much damage when I get blocked/aegis’ed/blinded, where with a Greatsword every miss feels like an eternity of non-damage.
My attributes untraited are:
3k Attack, 2.850 Defense, 20% Crit, 30% CritDamage, 16500 Health.
For zergfest, unfortunately I find the 0/0/30/30/0 + 10 build infinitely superior to any other. This means my damage isn’t as good as I’d like it to be, but that’s the only way to maintain a decent damage (the Attack is good, but the lack of damage % is terrible) and stay alive the longest in these fights since the AoE is too heavy.
Danicoo,
Once a build becomes mainstream, it looses it’s edge because people begin to expect it.
A lot of people don’t post their builds because of this ~fact~. it doesn’t mean other people don’t have that build.
That is the point.
Kryptonite: This isn’t ‘for me’, as much as it is for everyone else. I’m pretty confident in my build & play style, but a lot of other people are not.
Obviously there are multiple roles for the Guardian (contrary to popular belief):
- condition removal
- bubbles/damage negation
- stability / dps
- dmg soaker
- healer
etc etc.
But for big zerg fests, a lot of those builds aren’t ~as~ viable, just because of the insane amount of damage being tossed around…. and once culling is fixed, a lot of guardians who “bomb” in are going to wake up for a rude awakening, as Culling allowed for more guardians w/ weaker builds to run in and do more damage w/o being seeing for a greater period of time.
We all know this….
It’s time to prepare.
Hello there Amin, I was wondering if you could share how you got your stats? Mine are nearly identical and I have the exact same 0/0/30/30/10 build as you but my healing power is 400 less than yours. Everything else is within like 2-3% of each other in terms of raw base stats. (I’m using all exotic accessories if that matters)
0/25/30/0/15
stats:
3k attack
3k armor
42% crit
68% crit damage
0 healing.
Build focuses around decent AoE damage, massive AoE retaliation uptime, and using AH in a group setting to keep constant heals. (2 symbols, 10 boons applied per virtue use, constant blast finishers in light fields) Big key is using Lemongrass soup for 40% condition duration reduction, and either using 6x Meldandru runes for more toughness/condition duration reduction, or using pack runes for more offense. (those stats are for pack runes)

Mess around the the PVE build editor, I managed to get almost exactly his stats with exotic gear, minus a random 40 something attack power (which may actually just be an ascended piece)

for the purpose of staying power and making a difference in “zergs”, i find any variation of x/x/30/30/x to still be one of the best.
my standard go to:
0/0/30/30/10
1) 3.0k attk
2) 3.0k Armor
3) 46% crit
4) 70% Crit dmg
5) 300 Healing
recently been playing with a build more for fun:
10/0/30/30/0
1) 3.2k attk
2) 3.0k Armor
3) 30% crit
4) 54% Crit dmg
5) 300 Healing
with dual hydromancy sigils so i get an AoE chill every 9-10 seconds, which i feel helps a lot in large groups.
but basically my main thresholds are 3k attack and 3k armor. i’d feel more comfortable with 3.1k armor but i think it’s more of a psychological thing and it’s still in the end flexible. then HP wise, i like to be at at least 15k and up, but again flexible depending on build and play style. condition removal, the more the better. crit chance and dmg, again, depends on the group composition as well as my build (does it heavily rely on crits for effects that are crucial?, etc).
that being said, x/x/30/30/x are not the only viable builds but in a sense you know you can always “fall back” on this type.
oops, fixed some typos.

(edited by akamon.2769)
I roll with my guardian of which I like to call the “Cool down truck” (which means that once I have spent my main damage attacks I tank until they cool down)
0/20/30/20/0
Valkyrie gear – Two Valkyrie earrings, Two Valkyrie rings, 1 berserker Necklace (because I could not find the Ascended Valkyrie)
Weapons –
Greatsword – Tough/power/vitality with sigil of accuracy
Hammer – Tough/Power/Vitality with sigil of accuracy
Staff – Power/Pre/CD – with sigil of bloodlust
Scepter/shield – Both have Power/Pre/CD and one has sigil of bloodlust and the other Force
Focus – Anything… It’s going to go with scepter but just with added shields and heals
Sword – Power/Pre/CD any sigil to do with might.
My trait line is thus:
0 – nothing
20 – I, IV
30 – V, X, XII
20 – II, VI
0 – nothing
Utilities/heal
6 – signet of resolve
7 – “RETREAT”
8 – contemplation of purity
9 – Judge’s Intervention
ELITE – Renewed focus
this build setup allows me to gain might when I block and use a 3rd skill in a chain (so the third greatsword base attack) but also heal when I ageis is taken off me hence the “RETREAT” but I also heal from using meditations hence the contemplation of purity and Judge’s intervention. Renewed focus is used for when I have used the Ageis and Heal virtues and also to get you out of tight spots (would be used in a 2 v 2 and your partner went down so you use it and you have your virtues again to block/gain might/heal and do even more healing). I prefer to use this build in WvW but it works the exact same in PvE only difference is no WvW buff-ups such as health/damage.
I’ll suck volcanus for stability.
