Hello Dragonhunters!
As you can tell from my signature, I used to be a Reaper main.
Since joining the guardian ranks a couple of months ago, I am loving it for WvW solo and small party roaming.

Guardians have such a strong burts combo that if you land it right, you can take out an opponent swiftly.

I found a new combo that I rarely see people do in their videos and I would like to share with you all.

I use scepter/focus and sword/shield.
I’ve been dealing massive burst with this combo and hope you find it useful too!

scepter 3 > blink > scepter 2 > weapon swap (hydro sigil) > Test of faith > F1 > sword 3 > F1 pull > shield 5 > sword 2

This is one combo chain that does massive damage.
Especially F1 pull > shield 5 over Test of Faith trap dealing double the damage when you pull him over the trap and then shield 5 to push him over the trap again.

Pretty standard build I am using:

Double 1h-guardian may have pretty good dueling/1v1 game but I really don’t think its ideal for roaming solo or group since you lack aoe and really lack burst if you miss that ToF combo. The ToF burst that build has can be emulated by GS & Sc/Sh, which is a far burstier, aoe capable and more active weapon combo, and even superseded by LB & Sw/Sh (as you gain an additional knocback with LB 3).

I’d say double 1h is pretty fun and effective, plus it has a bit better sustain than either of the weapon comboes I just mentioned, so to each, one’s own I suppose!

I ran almost exactly that build for while (well, more of the easily purchased zerker WvW armor because crafting is kittening expensive nowadays, maybe 150 vit less) but eventually I swapped out sc/sh for lb. It got better oomph smallscale and largescale I think. The scepter become… annoying… to handle.

The only thing I havent decided on is whether sw/f or sw/sh is the proper way to go for those scenarios.

I’ve been turning this over in my mind a lot as well. It really depends on the scenario and what you need to do. You have to weigh aoe protection/single block and a very effective aoe cc vs. slight damage increase, a blind and a versatile block/burst attack.

In general, shield tends to perform much better when small-group roaming whereas focus tends to do better vs. opponents with high stab uptime and slower attacks (like warriors).
