ok now being serious, i love this class too and thats exacly why im one of the guys that propose change to balance or improve some aspects of guardian…

I don’t want to fully spoil this party, since I also love the Guardian. So let me start by thanking you for the great concept and the way the Guardian plays.

But I’d also like to remind the community that if you love this profession, you should strive for improvement. Both by becoming more skillful at it, but also by acknowledging where the profession has faults and could be better/more fun/more balanced.

Guardian is the most fun I’ve had in ANY MMO.
I also agree with Ynna here. I’m always throwing ideas around, I just hope ArenaNet sees them!

Still wish the characters would stab with the scepter and shoot beams of light at people instead of lobbing glowing tennis balls gently to them but other than that, yeah, agree completely.

Although I also like this profession, I don’t think it’s perfect.

For it to be better, they would need to swap Sword skills 2 and 3 for Greatsword skills 3 and 4, give us the ability to use Longbows, it must also have a blue glow when we use it, make Shield of the Avenger a permanent pet that always follows us (but you can nerf it’s ability a little just so it’s not OP), and also change it’s graphics to be 2 shields floating around us all the time, and lastly but not least, change the profession name to “Valkyrie”.

That’d be the greatest profession of all, but probably, complaints would rain over other professions forums stating they’re not as cool as we are.
But I could live with that.

Valkyrie? I’m not sure if this is a joke or not….
Valkyries are exclusively women I believe. Don’t they also use spears and fly? I’m not sure what the correlation between Valkyries and Guardians are.
Why two shields? I’m so confused.

I’ve never seen a RPG game that allows you to create a “Valkyrie” archetype before.
Hmm, that’d be incredibly great…

Now seriously, in terms of “coolness”, Guardians are by far top 1. I just wish they were a bit better at WvW siege/zerg battles, then it’d be the perfect profession.

I disagree… I made a second Guardian because my Charrdian was to fat and sluggish feeling, and human t2 armor looks sweet! Next up Norn Guardian… is three one one profession too many?

The only thing that would make my Guardian better is freaking laser beams coming out of his eyes.

I love being a guardian as well. I’ve tried some other classes but I always come back to my awesome Sylvari Guardian who is very tough to take down!

However, I do hate the fact that we don’t have a great ranged weapon to use. Scepter is our only option and it just plain sucks. But other than that, the Guardian class is perfect.

Scepter would be great if the autoattack projectiles would either home in a little or moved a bit faster. Not even a drastic amount. It’s still usable for mid-range kiting.

But yeah, I agree with the OP. Guardians are seriously fun. And I don’t usually like the tanky, Paladin-ish types of characters in any sort of MMO.

Try the Wizardry series. Several games up to its last iteration has a female only, Valkyrie class which is pretty great (high HP Warrior class with high attack-though better with polearms-, heavy armor, and Priest spells.)

You could also decide to play Guardian in the Valkyrie spirit, of course, with the proper “Valkyrie’s” gear to boot (or female Warrior, since it has higher HP-I always see my Guardian as a Battle Priest more than a true Paladin/Warrior class.)

OT: AFAIK, all Valkyries in the game “Valkyrie Profile” Lenneth, Silmeria and Hrist are all females. =)

That’s what I was doing when I first started GW2, but I found the Guardian skills more “fitting”. Warrior’s Sword and Greatsword skills are just like a Warriors, but a Guardian looks like more… magical skills?

And the Spirit Weapons floating around you, is too awesome to pass.

I simply want to state that i wholeheartedly agree with the OP. I tried to state this in a shorter message “/signed” but the forum moderator deleted my post because my post was lacking in content. I thought that was a bit of a dick move taking into account that i was agreeing with a post which supports Arenanet and this game that they have created. I have, i feel, been very supportive of the developers as well and to be summarily dismissed in such a demure fashion “Please refrain from making these kinds of posts…” is to say the at the very least a bit aggravating. Dismissing a straightforward agreement of a compliment is not in my opinion going to foster a strong relationship between your customers and yourselves. I would appreciate your revision of that policy. Thank you for your time.

Completely agree. Love this Profession to death and will never turn my back on it. Played since day one, have 640 hours on my Guard alone. Thank you, Anet.

Having played FAR too many fantasy RPGs I will support this sentiment. Guardians play like the best parts of LotROs warrior and champs grandfathered a decendant with the offspring of the best buff classes from many great games and a solid carved chunk of granite.

I was holding my breath waiting for the “we don’t laser beam pew pew enough” – made it well before blue-faced, but was surprised to see a sook about forum mods where Ganzo’s insane ranting should have been…

I agree I love this class, by far the best thing to happen in an MMO for a long time, the perfect balance of healing/protection and fighting.

I would like to see a decent range weapon for us though. I think a bow would suit guardian more than sceptre, but that’s just my opinion.

Love my guardian. I rolled other classes, filled all my starting character slots…. No one else is even close to 80.

And yeah, I’m in the camp of player who considered rolling a second guardian. They’re that awesome.

I was that way with my ranger… however i made a guardian instead of a second ranger and am now unsure which i like more…
