Many people kick a ranger when they are pugging. I kick any guardian that joins because almost every time without fail they are running some tanky leeching bs and don’t bother to use their virtues. You got lucky XD

That’s a pretty big damage difference. Luckily though, that figure is so horribly wrong I kind of wonder where you pulled it from.

Thanks for the praise but this is the stuff that bugs the hell out of me. Go test for yourself and you’ll see that zerk guards can match warriors. There is too much speculation on these boards, very little fact.

I’m terrible at the math part of theory crafting so if someone could compare the two classes for damage, that would be awesome. I’ve always thought the Warrior massively out-damaged a Guardian.

how did that guard give fury to allies? and vigor? and permanent block? :O

Runes of Altruism and Pack grants party-wide fury (for 5~10 secs before applying boon duration i think).

If anyone knows something like this or anything liksewise in build terms please feel free to post a build because that sounds like a lot of fun build…

I am a Zerk Guard since beta, we do exist >.> Its just some bs stereotype mindless people brainwash the newcomer by the term <Guard,Boon,Aegis>in the forum , so it must only good for support! That kind of mentality irks me the most.

Well, this class frequently looks bad because a lot of people don’t run dps builds and then complain about doing no dps.

Banner of discpline alone is a +15% to the warrior
20-25% dmg diff seems right to me i could be wrong because
I only play a bunker tpvp guard for lols . Pve guard is
Lvl 13 so again im not 100% sure but the pvp difference
Guard-war is very very high

Ever since I saw the light I’ve ditched my knights gear and AH bs and never looked back, Zerk guard is awesome and I’m glad you had a good time with one, but just to clarify (correct me if I’m wrong) amongst all the awesome things they can bring to the party, I’m 99.9% sure he wasn’t giving you vigor or fury (I know some runes can give it but it’s no where near consistent enough to be viable when compared to scholar, 3% and 5% on pack and whenever you use your heal skill on altruism)

Permanent blocks is somewhat possible, if you are running sword focus with retreat and renewed focus and some points in radiance, 3 aegis(6 for the guard because of focus 5) and 3 blinds.

With the signet of stamina i already have 3 dodges and i reember well at lupi i couldnt dodge anymore but i was able im sure there was vigor and
And he had a sword but i dont know about the focus since he was an asura i couodnt see what his offhand . And for the blocks there was tons and tons of blocks at the boss.with.dagger storm i didint lose a single hp , everything got blocked as for fury goes it was pretty much permanent with banners and for great justice but he durtion was increased so i dont know .

for pugs im not sure but
full berserker guardians deal ALOT more damage than warriors and are the 2. highest dealing dmg class in the game, in organized dungeon groups.
and this is fact.

nope. in organized dungeon groups its like ele>guard>thief>warrior

mesmer has the lowest dps if im not mistaken, not counting reflections

We all know necro has the highest dps, people just havent discovered the condi meta yet.

Speaking of which, I’m running a Zerker guardian with sword/focus with a swap to scepter/shield.

… Does this sound good or should I swap some things around?

I’ve been absolutely shredding everything I come across since then to a point that I can’t ever imagine using another stat-set, but I wanna know if there’re more efficient weapons I could be using.

There’s a pretty easy trait you can pick up that spreads might to allies when you crit. You can keep up a fairly decent stack of might with that. Pretty much whenever I glance at allies in a pug to check their boons, they’re hovering around 10ish without me having used things like Justice.

LOL @ attributing all that to the zerk guardian when half of it isn’t even something guardians can do.

1s internal cooldown on EM. That means without boon duration you are providing a maximum of 5 stacks from that trait.

Help some of us out and tell us what you guys are running? I run a zerker Guard now as well. But I am not out damaging a warrior.

Well there are a few things that i can think of right now, Kopper.

1. You can’t look at HB damage alone.
2. You can’t match a warrior’s dps using hammer, mace, etc, even with zerk stuff.
3. Banners are an overall damage boost to the party, not only for the warrior (IE.: every party should have at least one warrior due to banners).
4. In case you’re running sword and focus, don’t interrupt the auto attack chain to cast zealot.

Ah, to awnser your question i’m running sword-focus + anything that floats my boat at the moment, 10/30/0/x/x.

I think we should make a worldwide warning “Do not start a DPS comparison/ranking between classes, EVER”.

Anyway you got lucky OP, but yes, properly played DPS Guards can pack the utility of well-timed virtues/shouts/blocks AND the superior dmg of a full zerk equip.

The issue is finding ppl playing it, and playing it well.

A lot of people that use a proper DPS build seem to use something like what I use. With 25 stacks of Might and Vulnerability, you’ll probably do over 5k on your first 2 attacks and 11k+ on your last attack with Sword in most cases. In some situations it will be higher, some it will be a bit lower. You’ve got the potential to do well over 20k damage per autoattack chain and you can do it faster than a Warrior can complete an Axe chain. You should also be able to get 2 Sword chains off in during the time it takes a Warrior to complete Hundred Blades. Guardian does not have the same ability to self-buff that Warrior does, but it is very strong in a group.

I did a COE P1 run a little while ago where the warrior insisted on protecting at the consoles because “warrior auto deals more damage” despite the fact that we had two GS guardians and I kept pointing out that guardians have way better AOE. He then proceeded to fail to kill any of the incoming golems, like, six times in a row, until people started summoning adds to help him.

Few days ago a pug canceled his hacking 3 or 4 times while spamming “let the war def” in caps. Good times.
