I love my Guardian and I always have since I created it but the one thing that is bugging me is that I feel like our elite skills our kind of meh… Even though Tome of Courage and Renewed Focus are useful they have a pretty long cooldown and doesn’t actually feel that “Elitish”.

This is just my opinion and if we get some more elites in upcoming expansions I would like them to stand out a bit more than just beng the traditional Guardian “Protect and Buff”.

What are your thoughts?

Yah, I’m going to have to agree, The tomes never feel impactful, and the only one I use is the one that refreshes my virtues that grants invulnerability. I would also like to see some more impactful more interesting Guardian Elite Skills.

Renewed Focus is beast mode to push through siege lines or retreating defenders. Love the skill, and it definitely feels elite.

Probably the only one though. Tome of Wrath feels pretty powerful as well, but more situational.

Renewed focus is fine i really love it.
For the tome, they have really good effects, but i want to use my utilities when i use them, thats the only change they really need.

Warriors get a skill that blocks all attacks for 3 seconds with a cooldown 1/3 the time of Renewed Focus.

Renewed Focus is hardly elite quality.

Renewed focus makes us invincible for 3 seconds and gives us 1 free actication of every virtue – that is easily elite quality. At it’s base level (no traits) it’s pretty sweet, with 5 points in Vitues it’s pretty awesome and with more traits it’s borderline overpowered (it just isn’t because it requires so many points to get it like that).

Renewed focus (standard): a 5 second burn, a heal, a block and 3 seconds of being invincible (on the move) and then all your virtues reset.

Renewed focus (basic trait version): a 5 second burn with might, a heal with regeneration, a block with protection and 3 seconds of being invincible (on the move).

Renewed focus (better trait version): a 5 second burn with might, blind, vunerablility and retaliation, a heal with regeneration and retaliation, a block with protection and retaliation (and a heal or more retaliation) and 3 seconds of being invincible (on the move).

Sounds pretty elite to me, infact i’d say considering it only gets better the more you trait into your virtues i’d say it’s one of the best elites in the game.

I shouldn’t have to trait my elites in order for them to be good. I don’t trait virtues. My Burn does not deal a lot of damage, my heal is 1/6 of what my Staff’s 16 second Empower heals for and one block is negligible.

i used to use the tomes thinking they where the only good stuff, until teammates would get downed and i couldnt rez them during the time of the tome (wut?)

then i read people praising renewed focus as being godly, again i go wut?

then i tried it, at first i didnt like it, it was “just” 3 seconds of invulnerability
but then i began to burn my virtues more often, and then i received the light

renewed focus is godly
but only if you are actively using your virtues.
what Major siad is not traiting the elite, he is pretty much traiting the virtues, it is the virtrues trait line that give your basic virtues the add ones (might, regen and protection) a second different trait line that gives blind when using the justice virtue, and back again in the virtue trait line, another trait that makes using your heal virtue able to remove 3 conditions, not only from you but also from allies

that paired with renewed focus makes it a very nice elite to have, and he (nor am i) isnt traited “for his elite”, but rather for his utilities, and this elite, matches with the utilities very, very nicely.

if you are however, a spirit weapon guardian, then renewed focus isnt so much for you then as spirits arent affected by the virtues (i think)

I never said that, i said at it’s base level (no traits) it’s already good, it’s just that triats take it from just good to awesome (some traits) and then onto borderlined overpowered (all traits).

At its base level renewed focus gives you a free burn, a free (AOE) heal and a free block with 3 seconds of invincibility, then at the end of this you get the choice of having another burn, another heal and another 2 blocks (the 1st block on the virute reactiving its passive and the 2nd on your activation of it).

That is one heck of a battle changer if you time it right.

some how the forum ate my after @kita hwere i wanted to mentioned what you did Major, that you had not traited your self to be useful to your elite, but rather your elite was useful to how you where traited, for example, i was traited for virtues long before using renewed focus, which meant i could:
do a minor heal + regen+ remove up to 3 conditions
help avoid an attack +protection
help deal a bit of damage +might

and this i had long before using renewed focus, now that i used renewed focus, that elite does a very nice complemention of MY build, of MY playstyle, as i can remove up to six conditions with it, as well as heal nicely (i estiamte the heal from the virtue burning is like roughtly 10% of a chars hp, bu tthats just gut feeling)
