I have not seen this specific build posted yet, or at least in a long time.

I still use this very in-depth, intense build and it still seems very viable. What do you guys think? Use the menu in the beginning of the video if you don’t want to be burdened by 50 minutes of pure awesome.

In pve anything works! Some just do it faster than others…

Just going off DPS assuming typical buffs

6/6/2/0/0 GS + Sword/Focus with 9ww ticks since the author of the video constantly claims more hits is an exploit – 10291 (11322 with full whirling wrath hit)

Setup from video – 1980

Given that tanking doesn’t help your group the way aggro works and the heals are weak your pretty much a ranger pet with a wall of reflection. Some odd choices were made as well for what it’s going for. You could just run a hammer build with knights/soldiers/celestial gear and still be very tanky and provide a lot more support for your group as well as dps.

^ But is it because they are comfortable with themselves and use their defenses and healing reliably or is it really you carrying them through? Are you so certain that if you were to go meta they would drop like flies or carry on with only few problems if any? How much do you see the difference of utility in this build and meta fundamental in others’ survival?

The point isn’t to tank, I’m not trying to “pull aggro”. However, it isn’t very uncommon that I don’t. Within a 10 second range I’m healing myself for around 9k impassive, and about 6k to my team passive. I know I can push for higher numbers, but I need better gear for that. So don’t get off by saying the heals are “weak”.

Everyone’s idea of “meta” is “how much DPS can I obtain without becoming too much of a glass cannon?” The problem with meta builds is everyone who uses them uses them incorrectly, and therefore die over and over again. You can call this build a sort of equalizer. Plus, meta can suck it and so can hammer builds. I’ve ran a hammer build, the hammer is garbage. At least for now.

I do everything this build instructs. Hell, I even lie to people and tell them that I’m running a DPS build, but still go all the way through dungeons. On occasion I have people ask where the heals are coming from, then I’m all like, “oh yeah, I forgot to say I do reverse DPS on your health bars.”

At least try the build before popping a kitten over what’s meta and not.

This is not about meta or not, it’s about the thinking behind the build. It’s a bad build period, not suited for gw2 pve, and the fact you try to join better geared party to leech them and then think you’re a pro doesn’t make it magically better. Sorry.

I wouldn’t have judged you for running a terrible build if it wouldn’t be for this. If people ask for zerker meta builds bring zerker meta builds or don’t join the group.

If you’re trolling congrats, I just took your bait. I really hope you’re trolling though.

People don’t die because they “don’t play the meta right”. For example, I die because I am not very familiar with the instance’s mechanics and/or I am not paying attention and/or I am one of the few or the only zerker in party so I draw aggro most of the time.

The point of meta isn’t to “get as much as dps without becoming a glass cannon”. Becoming a glass cannon is perfectly fine if you know the encounter and how to react. My take on the meta is getting as much as dps while bringing meaningful and impactful utility. The meta builds for Guardians usually find this compromise by bringing untraited utility skills and it has been tested and played around with all sorts of people (including a casual such as myself) that such compromise is enough for the group.

I am not saying your heals are weak, the numbers you provided are good indeed. I am only asking if so much support is necessary. As others said you can have Hammer or even keep Mace + Shield and still be in meta, the meta seems flexible about weapon choices.

Note: Whatever your build is or however you like it, its wrong to lie about it to groups which require a specific type of setup ( of which you clearly aren’t following) that they also specified in LFG and even worse if you act snarky about it (“I do reverse DPS and keep you alive”) when people get suspicious. If you want to test your build make your own group or join one that doesn’t ask for zerkers.

“I’ve ran a hammer build, the hammer is garbage.”

Learn 2 play.

The hammer is not garbage, it’s the best support/tank weapon for a guardian in dungeons. I’ve been running a full Berzerker guardian with hammer + whatever else is needed at the moment. I dare say I do a better job at supporting my team with it than you do with your garbage “tank/healer” build, while obviously doing a ton more DPS than you do.

In PUGs I can see your build having potential, MAYBE, but even there I would say a DPS hammer guardian would do better. But when you’re in an experienced full Berzerker team who knows what to do, your build is only going to hold the team back. Lying about your build to such teams and thinking you’re doing them a service is incredibly selfish.
