So over the past few weeks I have been messing around with various builds.

A week ago I finally came across a use for scepter.

Now I know what your thinking "Scepter ? Why in gods name would you use that POS ?

I know, I know it has some major problems as a ranged weapon but…… when used as a melee range weapon it is actually rather nice.

It hits very very fast, especially when you use #2.

But best of all… The very quick immobilize on number 3 which also applies several stacks of vulnerability. _(perfect for trapping people inside a trap)

I have messed around with a few builds using it & these 2 are the most useful I have found.

Both have trade offs but the goal is the same.
Get to a target, drop a trap (or traps if you use a variation of the build) , then before the enemy can react immobilize them as well as hit them with other conditions so that nothing short of a full cleanse of all conditions can get them out of the area.

By yourself your unlikely to kill any skilled player with a set up of one of these spikes, however in a organized group it finally allows the guardian to have rather decent spike & CC potential.

Just be forewarned, if your not using an organized group & playing against competent players this build has some major pitfalls.

(either build can be modified to use more traps for mor CC/burst, but I wouldn’t suggest doing so because by doing that you start to sacrifice a good bit of survivability & unlike mesmers or thieves the guardian cannot disengage from fights.)

I’ve never understood why people hate on scepter, its a perfectly fine weapon for setting up bursts and has a decent amount of ranged pressure.

Most people hate it because you can easily strafe around and avoid the projectiles if your beyond 600 range.

At point blank range however it has very nice damage & hits extremely fast.

It’s not FINALLY good, it’s always been that good. People too obsessed with meta to see what it has to offer. If anything can be said for HoT, it’s got people THINKING instead of FOLLOWING.

I’m doing the same: different builds and playstyles…

I know you ALL will laugh but Hammer is a perfect secondary weapon for LB and traps. It has less damage than a GS of course but if your opponent burns his dodges on traps/TS he becomes more vulnerable to MB, ZE, and the other skills.

The f1 skill is absolute insane if combined with the Hammer skillset.

There is NO amount of Stability what can save you against a Hammer/LB guardian. Sure the sheer damage is less than a GS-wielder but the trapdaze-barriel-ZE-MB-F1-banish-JI-ring-trap again combo can wreck havock….

You might say this is not “meta” or “too weak” but I gonna stick to this combination for a few more matches and I will see

I hear that and its definitely annoying, however when I use scepter I rarely go beyond that range anyways because most of our damage is up close. Unless of course I have to disengage, or I’m engaging a ranged opponent, but that period of time isnt very long, and most people dont strafe it anyways.
