Hey, so i have been roaming for a while on my guardian now and i have been running into a few problems. So the first thing is even though i run runes of speed i lack the ability to choose my fights (mobility) , and this is costing me dearly. The second thing is that i run meditations and i have no way to get stability to get a stomp off. This is also a problem as most of the time it is a 2v1 situation and so i need to be able to get my stomps off so i can even the odds. If anybody could offer a solution to this that would be great. If you are wondering my build its zerker w/ runes of speed and some cav and zerk trinkets

Stability isn’t exactly necessary, for all builds, but two stunbreakers should be enough unless you’re facing two ham warriors, or dedicated CC builds. Most of the time in 1v2s when i encounter something like this if you know the enemy doesn’t have much access to CC or has already used them up. Check your HP and make sure you have enough for the stomp(pop virtues too like courage to deny single hit CC, and gain protection if you have 5 in virtues), if not either beat the downed with autos and other skills or pressure the next person. If the other guy tries to rez then, it’s a opportune time to cleave and DPS them both, if you have High DPS is should be really high pressure. Though note, if you’re 1v2ing people that play decently, or are around your skill level you won’t win those encounters.

For the classic triple meditation dps build you can -to some extent- try to carefully use the blinds and aegisto ensure yout stomps.

In PvP I use a double meditation build (10/10/30/20/0) with soldier runes and Superior Aria which replaces Contemplation of Purity for Stand Your Ground! It does less damage and you lose a heal but gives you 17,745 HP and 5 seconds of stability + retaliation each 24 seconds, which works very well in small n vs n battles for the control of the points (you can use the shout defensively under the effect of a stun, offesnsively to assure a stomp or for team support when a partner is stomping or needs stability).

Stability is not necessary for small roaming and getting stomps.

As Buran stated, and to add a few others:

- Aegis Stomp
- Blind Stomp
- Banish + JI Stomp
- Focus Stomp (block)

…. there’s 4, just off the top of my head.

Mediation w/ Rune Speed + Sword/Focus + GS – > Ton’s of mobility.

You will become a master ambient finder. And if you don’t, you’ll continue to die.

Lucentfir is correct in one aspect though: Fighting 1v2’s against equally skilled players is not going to result in positive outcomes, more often than not.

I made a typo xD on the stability part. it isn’t necessary to have stability for roaming, the two stunbreakers should be enough to get you out of most sticky stun situations.

Stomps without stability:

vs Guardian
Generally 1 blind or aegis is enough (poor guardians), but watch they don’t remove it with “Wrath” before using their knockback.

vs Thief
When they use Shadow Escape either reposition and re-stomp or use Judge’s Intervention while stomping to blink to their new location. If you don’t have JI then its usually quicker to DPS them down because Smoke Bomb with put them into stealth. ( ie you’ll need 3 stomps to kill them )

vs Mesmer
Either begin stomping, cancel and restart to fake out their use of Deception or teleport to their new location with JI ( the real mesmer will have the downed symbol above their head ). Reserve aegis or blind incase they use Phantasm Rogue which can do alot of damage to you.

vs Warrior
You need both blind and aegis since they can interrupt you twice with Throw Rock and Hammer Toss ( so pop one before each attack, not together ). Watch out for Vengeance ( just kite it ).

vs Engineer
1 blind/aegis should suffice although stomping them quickly is advisable.

vs Ranger
1 blind/aegis although some pets can be annoying so you might need to guard against them

vs Necro
1 blind against Fear

vs Elementalist
Try to immobalize before they go into Vapor Form or start your stomp just before and teleport with JI at the last moment.

If all else fails you can combine Judge’s Intervetion with Merciful Intervention to blink away to a friendly and back to your target ( but most likely you’ll have CD on them )

Lastly, if you see them target nearby mobs or downed players use your blind to try and stop them from rallying.
