Is this a troll?
Is this a troll?
nope… are you wondering about the wupwup claymore? cos I actually like the asthetics for it lol. Or is it a bad build is what youre saying?
Fine for WvW. Fine for casual dungeoneering. Not so great for frackles.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
Apologies if that came off rude then. It’s just that we’ve had a lot of people claiming these sorts of builds are the best pve builds lately.
It’s probably fine for wvw (I don’t play much wvw) but for general fractals/dungeons your team will be carrying you. Dungeons ain’t hard but you’ll slow the group down.
AH is considered selfish in pve, and weirdly you’ve paired it with a weapon with low boon output. If you really like that spec, I’d at least go hammer + writ of persistence. I appreciate not everybody wants to play with zerker gear on, but at the very least removing AH is a good start. You can get a lot of dps and group support out of those points instead of the selfish self heals.

May I ask what is looked for in Fractals? And what changes I can make?

lol no problem I’ve seen those posts of full celest sets and trinkets… And thanks for the tip I’ll be sure to change it
It’s a cookie cutter wvw build, but please change pure of heart to pure of voice. And don’t play it in dungeons.

What exactly does a cookie cutter build mean? lol and whats wrong with it for going into dungeons? Are they the traits or are the stats off for dungeons?

Cookie cutter means marked by sameness and a lack of originality; mass-produced. Just means it’s a common build.
Also you should pick up Superior Aria since you’re using three shouts.
For PvE your are better off going something like 10/25/0/10/25.
Heavens Rage
allrighty thanks Just want to go for something that works I’ve been playing around for a while and I want a build that has healing power and power/crit
Just my two cents in regards to healing power… if you are not up over 1200+ (really 2000+) you are far better off placing that effort elsewhere. This comes from over a year playing only the Guard and trying to “buck the system” and be useful as a healer. Of note is that I run 99% of the time with guild members and old friends so there is a high level of cohesion in the groups.
At a glimpse I’m running:
15/5/0/30/20
Hammer with a focus on Symbols/Protection duration
All Clerics Ascended armor and all Clerics Ascended Trinkets
Dwayna x2, Water X2, Monk X2
This build is about boon duration/stacking, 100% up time on healing and Protection
Skill uses varies with the situation, of course.

Allright thanks! So no healing power unelss it’s alot OKAY GOT IT! But I’ve heard that for guards stack healing power would be better than health is this true or no? :o
We have very low health pools to start with, not really a terrible thing mind you as the game is famous for: “la la la I’m killing everything with no probs, this is a ….OMG NOT THE FACE! NOT THE FACE!” Dead after 2x back to back hits of 12,749
So… I’ve found the MAGIC number in regards to our HP is between 15,500 and 17,000 Just enough to cushion you from the above one hit wonders but not so much you are neglecting other primary stats in place of a massive health pool (which for us is never going to be THAT massive)
Cruxiis – from reading your posts you might like to try a boon duration/dps hybrid build in which you dump points into boon duration for your group via the virtue trait line but an equal amount of effort into a dps build via knights/zerkers gear. Make sure to trait up so that everything you do is supporting something else, with this build no skill should stand alone. Boon duration/dps guards are very fun to play, very mobile and dynamic.
Oh, aim for a boon duration of 60-70%, going over this number is not of super high use as most your skills will be just about coming off their cool down timer as the boon is running out.
Finally, Altruistic healing is the foundation for any “newer” Guard, it is a GREAT skill but… once you are more comfortable you will find that its a bit of a crutch and you can indeed do more healing, better healing, better support and better dps without it…This comes from someone who LOVED AH for 6 months, until I really started playing with the numbers.

There is some viable healing power builds for pve out there, I mean for dungeons you could make something with moderate damage and good healing support, or just go full healing support, but for fractals, you NEED to go full out on the dps

I have exactly the opposite advice. If you max out healing power, you do so by sacrificing too much damage and turning yourself into dead weight. The game doesn’t have any real need for a Cleric archetype. If everyone else were incapable of healing themselves, sure. But ultimately the goal is always to kill something, not survive a set amount of time. If you aren’t doing damage, you aren’t progressing to your goal.

kitten thanks for the advice! Taken every word of yours into consideration and I’ve looked up a few boond/dps builds and it looks pretty amazing Hopefully itll fit my playstyle!

KK this goes along with what others are saying. I think I’ll lean more towards the hardcore dps lol. Plus I love doing fractals xD

Very true point reading all these posts is making healing go lower in priorities lol
For this, Equipment wise, is it good? Or should I change the runes I am using? (leaning towards rune of pack because of WvW roaming and ignore traits I’m still working on it)

You may not want to hear this since you’re just starting out but you will need to have alternate sets if you want to be good in WvW and PvE. If you are ok with mediocrity in either, then don’t worry about it.
In simplest terms, PvE is largely about high DPS and utility to negate, avoid, or mitigate (for you and the team) large/often slow damage. You want to deal high damage quickly, with as little break in DPS time as possible since enemies worth killing have high pools of health.
In WvW, it is somewhat the opposite. Enemies you face have low HP pools but attack without set patterns and often unpredictable skills. You will have to deal with conditions on a more regular basis and very frequent (although not as hard hitting) attacks. Here you will need either more toughness, health, or healing to mitigate this as you will likely not be able to dodge and Aegis everything.
With those basics in mind, think about your build a bit more. Helps to put it in perspective that way so you can understand why certain things are useless in certain areas of the game.

lol okay! well my goal was to find a universal build that would work well in everything but i guess ill have to go two builds
this should also help mate. Guardian is a lot of fun.
Desolation
The traits are fairly cookie cutter. The gear choice is terribad.

Allright! I’ll lean towards this for my PvE build!

Gear choice is bad for PvE, WvW or both? and thanks for being honest lol!

Is this a little better? Since stacking healing power isnt such a great idea I gave it up for crit chance! Not sure if I did the right thing though…
