Q:
Torch build guardian
I’m not quite sure about damage guardian, I’ve tried crit guardian with 2H sword, and I can tell you that it sucked for me
Having the sword summon and hammer summon skills add so much to your damage. Try to mix those with an escaping ability, and please tell if it works!
I personally use Scepter/Torch in PvE. They really pumped up the damage portions of this skill (though activated 4 is still kind of lacking).
Combining Fiery Wrath (+10% damage on burning foes), Renewed Justice (Virtue of Justice is renewed when you kill a foe), and Radiant Fire (Torch skills recharge 15% faster) seems to do really well to keep burning up on a target long enough to do really decent damage.
I’ve been doing what dhajra said, works quite well.

I’ve been running Mace/Torch and Greatsword. Granted, I’m only level 35, but I find that with a little extra toughness I can move into a group, drop my symbols and hit torch skill #4 and just make it painful for any enemies near me even before I hit the GS AoE.
I love the torch for dps .. my guarding is just like a warrior >_> but not enuff boom…
I run 1H sword and Torch / 2H GreatSword.
My weapon runs a sigil which gives more power with each kill to a max stack of 25. that does help out a lot.
i have recently switched to a mace/shield combo to survive with a 2haded sword for dps.
I’ve been doing nothing but Sandbaggy point hold builds and crit/blind/weakness/burning builds with sword/focus, scepter/shield… Would really like to delve into fire things and I believe scepter/torch sounds promising.
I would like to stand out from warriors as I don’t want to be an imitator. I’m going to try out a few of these. I feel like I know my way around the trees well enough to put something together but I was worried that other classes would make you explode before you could do anything worthwhile.
Any additional build styles? Do you have to be glass cannon to fully function with this build or can you go tank/cond dmg?
It’s hard to make a PVP condition build with burning as your only real form of condition damage. It can be used with other build types since it doesn’t take too much devotion in traits or skills.
Torch is wonderful in PvE.
I really enjoy the Torch as well in PvE. (havent done any PvP yet).
Sword/Torch seems like one of the best dmg/survival builds around.
the #3 skill of Sword, then activate the #4 while (AoE burn) #3 is going, then when #3 is finished u can throw #4 (spike+burn) and continue with #5 (Flamethrower xD).
But im getting a headache on deciding weapons, as yesterdays group kinda forced me into using a 2h Staff and going support build. And then i think about Hammer, and i cry about how slow it is.
Hammer is amazing utility though. I don’t think you should stick on it as a main weapon but rather recognize opportunities to use its control qualities and use them and switch back to your main setup.
But man if you can get a 1, 1, 1, 2, 4 combo off on someone it’s pretty neato.
hammer IS pretty darn useful. i run sword/torch and hammer / GS. going to try to mess around with the other weps, as they’re all useful but i can’t move away from the torch.
adding on to what Resilga said, set them on fire, switch to hammer, 1, 1, 1, 2, 5, 4 so you trap ‘em before banishing them. and then while they’re toppling, 3 to immobolize and do what you want. haha

Guardian condition builds seem to be a lot different than other classes. The damage portion of the condition is more or less just an added benefit instead of the objective (more so since the activated Justice burn is already pretty damaging even without + condition damage). The fact that Fiery Wrath (+10% damage to burning foes) and Radiant Power (Increased damage to foes suffering from conditions) stack lets you move more to condition DURATION instead of condition DAMAGE as it’s more about keeping burning on the target for as long as possible in order to do increased damage for longer periods of time.
And getting all that only requires 35 points, so there’s some breathing room to experiment with quite a few other options in the trait lines.
This is a great answer. I’ll work with it- I’ve already had great success with torch in pvp (so far sword/torch seem to work best with Greatsword as my main.
skill 4 on torch is easily my favorite. I can yell Hadoken and it works. its a nice little burning pull and sets up the closer in mace skills I tend to use with the torch.
I love using Spirit weapons with a sword/torch. If you build right the dmg is insane.

Note: This build is very very squishy. Which is why I run ToC, but the dmg well makes up for it.
