Trouble against elementalist
I’d say pay attention to their combos, since most of them tend to use the same thing.
Ride The Lightning towards you, then they use Updraft to launch you. Either have stability or dodge.
Afterwards, they tend to use Burning Speed to close the distance, use Earthquake for some more CC (knocks you down), and sometimes even Magnetic Grasp if you happen to escape (that one immobilizes you).
Get a little bit of condition removal, and pay attention to what the player does, because, in the D/D case, it’s almost always the same.
On your end, use CC/blind and make him waste their CD’s, and they have quite a few.
That’s my two cents.
I assume you are roaming…
Scepter is good. Root them in place to break up their combo then just do your best to keep your distance. Dodge out fo the couple of CC skills silviurscr mentioned. It’s really the opposite of most other classes, in that if you get in close they can finish combos and do way more damage to you than you do to them.
Anet lied (where’s the Manifesto now?)
A good ele will just about never RTL into updraft as you are basically shouting “I’ma charging mah lazor!!!”.
The real one to look out for is burning rush as that is going to be followed by one of the heavy attacks that end in a fire field being placed around you. This is how he stacks his might, earthquake and the massive earth aoe (forget its name) are both blast finishers and grant long stacks of might while doing good damage if you sit in them.
Save stability for when you have a burning ring around you and dodge right at the end of his burning speed to avoid it and the coming fire grab.
Fights with D/D ele’s have a flow to them and his initial burst is not nearly as deadly as the second one after he’s stacked his might. Best advice is to find one and duel him until you know the tells that mean burst is coming and save your dodges/cooldowns for those moments.

They do! But they follow up with skills that complement you inability to counteract. Often ranged attacks.
Best defense versus D/D ele is to watch their attunments and get ready to block or dodge when they go into fire. When they go into air. Get stability or a stun breaker to get out of the knockback, then pressure. When in earth. Avoid the AoE knockback and try nuking, same with water. Water may chill you so be carefull. Don’t use blocks during fire breath or ice breath. It’ll break your blocks and prevent nearly no damage.
