Trying To Figure Out The Ranged Guardian
well tbh scepter is the ONLY option for ranged dps for guardians.
but yes #1 skill is really really slow… takes a while to get to the target so it’s predictable, easily avoidable. you can try to use #3 but it only immobilizes like what, 2seconds?
2 is sweet though, i try to use it as much as i can.
i do think the only option for ranged dps for guardians is a little underwhelming. i hope they make #1 much faster, because currently it is pretty useless during pvp situations unless the target is slow/not-moving
If you have the spec for crit, toughness offers quite a few signet bonuses, and two signets at your disposal give you a second snare after #3 scepter skill and a KD.
The orbs also track the target somewhat and are pretty reliable at a longer range.
From my experience ranged guard is for pve only or when your defending a keep in WvW.

The guardian’s ranged weapons lack massively in WvW and especially the scepter is extremely boring & not fun to use in both PvE and WvW, mainly because of the ridiculously slow projectile speed and the lack of a chained attack.

It may lack but its better than doing nothing while your on the defense. Thats why i made sure to say when DEFENDING your keep. If you go out to melee at this point your just going to die.
I have had some success and some failure with this weapon.
Its slow, its not very responsive, easily avoidable.
If your target is moving at all, you will find the attacks will veer off into random directions, you will also get a bunch of random mitigation problems.
Where the attacks hit the target but do no damage and will popup with some random error message, like it was blocked or they were obstructed or something.
Even though the target has no shield, or boons, and is standing right in-front of you, the only difference is that they were jumping from side to side, not using evades, but just moving left to right while jumping, effectively nerfing the scepter.
Other than that, if your target is standing still, then it works really well.
You can get 4-5 attacks slowly moving to the target before the first one hits, without having any attack problems.
But the Scepter has its problems, the responsiveness of the attacks is really bad for a ranged weapon.
It has really short range compared to every other ranged weapon also.
