Q:

Right now I’m a lv50 guardian. My traits are 20/20/0/0/0. My ultilities are Signet of Wrath, Purging Flames, and Judge’s Intervention. My heal is the Signet of Resolve and my ult is Avatar of Grenth. I am using the greatsword as my weapon.

I built this build off the specs of a condit DPS guardian, with plans to make my traits 30/30/10/0/0.

My question is, is this a viable build for endgame content as a guardian or will parties get mad at me for using this build?

Condition builds utilizing Permeating Wrath or other AoE burns can be useful for AoE farming type scenarios, but outside of that, it isn’t really something that works well for guardians in the current system. The limiting factor is the way burning damage stacks in duration instead of intensity, so you don’t really have any way to increase your damage output beyond what 1 stack of burning provides.

The good news is that burning has a fairly high base damage, so you do a baseline level of condition damage all the time anyways even without investing gear/traits into those stats.

While I don’t run DPS focused Guard ( I run a balanced guard using AH/EMP) I think it’s generally agreed that zeal is a waste to invest fully in.

Well is a condition DPS guardian viable or is it just a noobie build? (endgame wise)

I think there is some quantitative work going on that is characterizing condition damage use on Guardian but on gut feeling, most people don’t think it’s worth giving it the slightest attention. I feel that there are some advantages to Cond. Damage that give it a place in our ‘viable’ builds. I don’t think this is the place to discuss them.

Specifically for your question, I don’t think any party will get mad at you using any build as long as you aren’t reckless or useless (Condition build won’t make you either of those things.)

I can’t advise you focus on a condition damage build so early or with limited experience.
