[Vid]DragonHunter Traps OP? - BWE3
Well I’m too busy to watch the video right now (though I will later) but if avoid saying things like,“the traps are OP” considering you’re probably referring to fragments of faiths bugged double hit when at launch it will be a primarily defensive stability giving support skill with lowish damage.

Well from what I’ve seen you were using it in unranked. First 2 mins just show how ppl can’t play their classes right. Fun video but it shows that traps are UP vs good players. Lets wait 23.10. to see new improvements.
I have always liked traps, but really wanted more utility from them, especially when sacrificing Meditation skills. I think this video highlights their potential at the very least, though I wouldn’t take 4 traps (I think 2 are fine).
Hey Lynnie, thanks for posting this video, and I’m glad you enjoyed traps so much! Your video was inspiring as it shows how effective traps can be now, and they aren’t even at their full potential yet!
Just some thoughts on both your video, and traps in general as they stand now:
It looks like you made pretty good use of a trapper playstyle, laying down your traps and not chasing people, but rather letting them come to you only to get destroyed! I think longbow actually fits perfectly well with traps in that it gives you a way to pressure foes so you don’t have to chase them.
One downside though is in a ranked match, all it would take is a bit of pressure from a thief or a mesmer to get you to pop your heal, and then a coordinated burst from two or three people and you’d be downed very easily.
I think that a trapper guardian is going to shine much more in WvW roaming than in spvp. A full-trapper guardian with runes of the trapper will make for a very annoying and quite deadly foe that has the ability to disengage, and kite. In spvp a trapper DH will be a sitting duck for mesmers, rangers and anything with heavy condi application.

I decided to go a trapper playstyle because i wanted to test the new utility skills, but in a serious mode game i wouldn’t use all that.

I was using traps close to same way, though for me adding in wall of deflection was the thing that good trap build work even better. This made alot people either engage in melee and get trap “bombed” or disengage, since longbow putting out pressure and they expected traps.
Also on skyhammer did you ever place dragon mav over one those breaking “windows” on the floor? For me that meant free kill everytime :P (record was 3 people dropping to they doom with 1 dragon mav)

I haven’t thought about it, but certainly looks interesting trap them over the window and let they fall to death. -

Really wish they’d make Wings of Resolve proc instantly, interrupts like at 1:57 got me killed all the time

Agree with you. But the skill itself kinda makes sense. It will only heal when you land, also dealing damage. :/
No idea how they will work in sPvP mainly because of what you may have to give up in order to use them. Glass half full/empty. Also trapper runes are not an option in sPvP.
WvW, on the other hand, will make some interesting play until people catch on. Probably more use in small scouting parties or solo play. I use the trapper runes on my Ranger to scout/flip NPC’s and camps, they work very well. I will be trying them on the Guardian as well but jury is still out.

So is humor and understanding when people are obviously not being 100% serious.
This is kinda funny because one of your traps was Fragment of Faith…most likely responsible for downing 2-3 people at once.
basically it comes down to abusing a bug that has already been fixed.
Yet because you don’t necessarily explain that, there are bound to be idiots coming in telling us how Traps are fine, DH are fine and that our complains are totally uncalled for.
Please do me a favor and change the title or put a note saying you are using pre-fix bugged mechanics, thanks

All i can say is DH is super fun!
I get that you’re going for humor, but I’m still not convinced. The vast majority of your enemies had very little positional awareness, you were saved by rallies more than once, and the engineer at the end straight up beat you. The build you were using also has very little sustain and condi clear, which is not good for a Guardian.

I cant see anything OP about those traps. You killed your enemys by laying down every Trap, so it is basicly like a simple complete burst combo and that was something the Guardian can do already without beeing restricted on a small area.

He used it yes. I also saw the fragments, but a lot of his damage was from the other traps. That is how you should expect it to look once HoT launches because this video was posted after we already knew about the changes to traps.
Tbh, i didn’t knew about the bug on that trap by the time i made this video. I only read it a couple days later on that post about DH changes, but since i already had recorded the video, why not use it …
But yea, even with the changes i think Dragonhunter will be amazing.
