#5 best gerdien in wurld
For those who rather see it than read about it. Excuse the wonderful editing. Enjoy!
Great video. Far better editing than I could do.
That was depressing.
Wow….just wow…not sure if the skills weren’t working properly but if it launches like this, then this is just a horrible joke.
the problem is, you were using bow as a main melee weapon while in fact its a ranged support weapon.
Every time you were killed you had a bow with no weapon swap cooldown and a thief in melee range. Same thing applies to a medi guard. you cannot hope to take on a medi guard with your DH with a bow equipped, it simply won’t do.
You use a bow on a kitting mes and ranger, NOT on someone who wants to be in your face.
You use a bow from a ledge while trying to zone others in foefire, NOT while you are in the middle
You wanna call it bad design, but i call it more a L2P issue
How exactly is the longbow a ranged support weapon? What does it do to directly help allies besides a few seconds of vigor? The only highlights of the weapon are the damage from #2 and the AoE CC on #5.

Saddly, i have to agree with you.
What Anet had in mind was a full shout build with a longbow in order to give allies the full benefit of the shouts while also adding DPS from 1200 range.
At least i am ASSUMING its what they had in mind…

That “No Line of Sight” happens almost every time I cast #3 & #4. The Guardian doesn’t execute the skill, instead, he freezes up and does nothing. It’s not just incredibly frustrating as it ruins the flow of combat, but it’s also a weakness in the melee aspect of the bow.

It’s most definitely a l2p issue but I can’t help but wonder how many times a person is going to get ganked while he just switched to the bow. That’s an aspect I wanted to overstate in the video – it’s going to happen and it’s not much a person can do about it.
I think #3 should give either a stun or a knockback, in addition to the bow’s knockback trait. Only taking effect in melee range, of course :P

I think DH will be a disaster… They dont fix al the problems… And a lot of people will delete there gaurdian voor Revenant. =)

Agreed, switching to bow right before a thief ganks you = death. its about time they toss in some escape mechanics to the guard, or the longbow as whole.
There is this worrisome trend i have been noticing lately where most elite specs are being designed primarily with PVE in mind…
Reaper, tempest, the whole rev prof and even the chronomancer functionality is designed with PVE in mind. Thats why besides the latter, they are all crap in sPVP at the moment.
The longbow was supposed to address the issues of guardian lacking a good ranged weapon on bosses which forced you to stay ranged 100% of the time. if you look at some of the gameplay videos and new bosses in HOT, you will see a lot of them being melee unfriendly. Maybe call it a hunch, but i have a feeling the other elite specs won’t be that much better.
Thanks for posting this. Pretty much sums up the experience I had with it.
The line of sight problem with the bow is indeed terrible, it made the longbow extremely clunky and unpractical and I really hope it was unintended by them and will be fixed. Hope.
Bummer. I was hoping that the longbow would be the one saving grace to the spec, but it seems they couldn’t even manage to get that right.
Makes sense that the bow would suck in melee range though, seeing as whoever designed the Dragonhunter clearly had no intention of using anything that the base class has to offer.
What would be great if they make spirit weapons like the ranger pets… That would be a great combo with DH! ????
But first they meer to fix the line of sight (bug)…
This is litterally BearBow Ranger of the Guardian, no joke, and even then you can kite people and do damage with BB, this however is disappointing…
what anet had in mind i think is for wvw/gvg back line support with gaurd
not tpvp
Damage needs to be upped across all abilities.
The rooting of 2 and 5 need to go as well.
I think they intended the virtues to be the defensive portion of DH, but with casting times and too-long cooldowns, they become irrelevant as mobility/escape/defense. Fix those first before anything else and see how things balance out and then go back to chopping up bow functionality if it doesn’t help (obviously the bugs need fixing though, those LoS issues are a no-go)

Just the opposite, LB have no use at wvw, except maybe for roaming, but even there LB will fail.
And dont forget, LB was the weapon you guys have been asking for the pass 2-3 year, LB for guardian its a very very bad idea, trying to push pure melee class to be long range class its just wrong, and wvw will become even more boring.
Guardian with LB its against the nature of this class.
No, it think LB is really great for gaurdian! But its now not really balanced… It could be really usefull, when you can switch between LB and melee weapons.

Mesmers and Wells, Guardian’s and Traps, Ele and Shouts, etc. Every single specialization is against the very nature of the classes. That’s the point.
LB could work, it’s just certain key components that makes it frustrating to use atm.

Agree!
It’s no surprise that DH and Tempest are the weakest of the elite specializations seeing as how they come from Karl McLain.
He has no clear vision for Guardian as he’s given us longbow with completely subpar traps.
Needless to say, I think it’s more telling that Irenio Calmon-Huang posted the updates here so it looks like we may have a changing of the guard (so to speak, ).
Literally our best course of action is to have the BWE come out, capture the game play, capture your thoughts, and post that feedback. If Irenio is the new designer for Guardian/DH, then he wouldn’t/shouldn’t do significant changes to DH but see how they play out with the next BWE.
It was beta. They have already made changes. I’ll bet an adult beverage or soda if under age that there will be more after then next round. Bound to happen.
The bow is slow, back on par with what Rangers had upon retail launch. CC 5 is too strong but you have to time it right – sort of like hunting a duck – you lead it. Only issue with this is dodge…
Tried Mace/Focus + LB and it was so – so. Traps are nice but again the fast pace of WvW does not seem to fit traps. Then again I play a trapper Ranger so I sort of got used to the play style and they started to perform. Group had to adjust because they didn’t really notice them until I said LOOK, I AM PLACING TRAPS HERE…then they started to work ok.
Problem right now is trying to find a reasonable build that will work with the weapon (Long Bow) and traps. I also tried GS with LB which seemed to work a lot better. Honestly, I’d almost say if I was allowed to use trapper runes the stealth and speed would have been pretty interesting but not on par with how they work on Rangers.
Next iteration will be telling but the changes today mean they are at least watching and/or listening to whatever feedback is provided.
Only thing bad is that elite shout…man what were you thinking??
This is better video: LONGBOW IS OP ON GUARDIANS

I had very little to work with here otay!?
