Hello Everyone, Arista Skyfall here bringing to you my Guardian Roaming Videos~

These days, I spend most of my time in WvW with my Guardian, running a DPS Meditation build with great success and decided to start making Guardian Roaming videos for you all.

I may not be the best guardian, and they may not be the best fights, but I most defiantly had fun whilst I was playing and recording and I hope you guys enjoy the videos!

For a new guild wars 2 player who plays guardian and plans on roaming like that when he hits 80 this was very nice , i subscribed you on youtube and hope to see more in future !

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I had some decent fights this morning and I will probably have enough footage for another video by the end of the week assuming nothing comes up on my end~

Fight at lake tower, you bursting a 30% health player who had no endurance or even saw you coming, then fade out.
Next, 3v5. You were on the 5 side.

EotM kills might as well be recordings of you champ farming in queensdale. I know you can’t dictate the fights you get, but you can dictate what you show us. 1 or 2 fights where impressive/entertaining out of 2 videos. Impress me. Don’t press 3 buttons then port to someone for the burst. You might as well have use slow motion, used dubstep and zoomed on the crits.

I thought the last vid was decent (didnt watch others). But I did lol @ “the first fight is me bursting down a mesmer before they can react”.. Uh bro that Mesmer was afk, it took you 5 seconds to down him and he never made any move, he was clearly afk.

Hey now, I like EotM =p at the lake tower, I picked the most reasonable target to jump into, wouldn’t you have picked the same target? I faded out because about 10 seconds later my net had a hissyfit and crashed and no point showing effectively nothing. After that there were 4 of them around and I remember a Mesmer ontop of the hill to the left as well, they were spread out a bit though and the others ran back into their spawn. Yeah I said there were uplevels, but there were plenty of them =p also that ele was indeed 80.

That being said, I do see your point and I will try to find some better fights over the next week or so

Yeah it wasn’t too bad I guess, though that Mesmer wasn’t afk, just in the tp or something, they did move back and try to heal from what I remember =p

I will try harder to get some better recordings and fights and thanks for the feedback guys~

Or our comps suck and just being in WvW is a hassle let alone trying to record. :P

Heh my comp sucks too haha, I think I average like 15 fps while recording on near-lowest settings, its worse when a zerg is near too :’(

Also, I enjoy making videos, I plan to make many more =p

If I did not loved this game so much I would have already quited because I can nly play this with 30 fps near minimal. Never tryed to record, but it already came to my mind. Someday I’ll try to see if I can pull it off or not. kitten this and only be able to afford one laptop :/ need to finish college get a job and a god kitten GOD MACHINE xD

Update;

As it happens, I have another video being rendered right now, (pretty quick right? i’m in the zone now =p haha) It is, in my opinion, the better video of the ones I have made. It is a bit longer then #2 and consists of almost all outnumbered and/or even fights (and a distinctive lack of EotM/upscales) with the best fights at the end of the video so you have something to look forward too =p

As for an ETA, my upload speeds are pretty shoddy right now, most likely in around 4 hours or so.

Also, has anyone else felt that, in the last week or so, the guardian forum has slowly dwindled down to only a few active peoples and barely any new videos or posts? I’d love to see some new people around and making videos, I think that would be super~

If you give me some tips on how to record on a terrible pc I can try to make some.

Hmm, what’s your computers specs? with everything around low-ish, how many FPS do you get while running around in WvW? have you tried recording before?

Well I would be running in sPvP since I don’t really wvw anymore.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 3400Mhz
Nvidia GeForce 550 TI, I do have 2 on SLI but as far as I’m aware GW2 doesn’t take advantage of SLI so it’s usually off.
8gb ram

Well with fraps open not running I get around 50 fps. Jumps around though 50-90ish.

Just not sure what recording program and settings would make the best quality with least performance impact. I do already deal with some net lag too so low FPS just amplified it. Though I just recorded a match on half-size/30fps settings on fraps it wasn’t too bad.. Would like to do something a bit better tho.

Until I see this done with litany of wrath and tome of wrath (not the afk mesmer kill thing, that can be done by anyone), I will not be impressed.

Your comp is a bit better then my laptop =p, yeah fraps takes its toll and I usually loose like 20fps+ while using it and you can’t really change the settings. Does your 550ti have NVidia shadowplay support? from what I have heard, there is little to no lag/fps drop using that.

And what are u using for editing?

Adobe After Effects CS6 and Photoshop CS6 =p Although I really don’t do that much editing-wise, I tried to keep it pretty simple, smooth and pleasant to look at, nothing too intricate.

Hmm, tbh, I think I spent a few hours making templates for all my text, pictures, thumbnails etc in Photoshop, then a few more hours putting together a template for the video in After Effects. As it stands now, if I have the raw footage, it generally takes 15-20 minutes to place and line-up the footage with the fades and (thanks to my excessive 16gigs of ram, too much for my kittenty computer but still) usually takes about 15 minutes or so to render a 7-8 minute 720p video that has preserved almost all of its quality (my fraps source is 720p, re-sizing to 1080p looses quality and takes longer for me to render ^^)

I use a h.264 CBR encoding set to about 30mbs bitrate, 30second keyframes and a standard mp4 multiplexer with AAC audio. A 7 minute video is about 1.6g in size, I consider that acceptable as it preserves the fraps raw quality for something like 1/5 of the file size, I suppose I could get the file size right down, but I like having a clear quality to use and I can’t be bothered fiddling with it, haha.

i am using dxtory which for me dropping my fps less than fraps (-5 difference). usually i got when roaming 30-40fps and when zerging 15-20fps. sometime i get lag but it doesnt have anything to do with dxtory
i use vegas pro for editing
i put some burning guardian clips maybe i try to go back to my zerk meditation build

Dxtory huh, can’t say I have heard of It but ill go give it a try, if the quality is the same as fraps and I can keep a higher fps, that’d be great =p

Vegas pro, Hmm, haven’t used that in a number of years actually, haha, I think I’m just too stubborn to move away from AE =p

-Eh, Dxtory crashes my game when I start to record ^^ oh well, ill just put up with fraps, haha

dxtory has better quality with lower file capacity but can be buggy sometimes
for me sometimes it freeze my camera for few seconds when i start recording but after it runs smooth. so when i log in i use it for test first to see its ok
i tried cs6 but its bit too expert for me

All outnumbered or even fights, in my opinion, the better fights are at the end.

Just curious… does the copyright bit at the end help versus youtube pulling videos down due to mis-use of music? Only asking because I got a copyright strike for using music

Well, it can help, I always prefer to have a copyright disclaimer and the bits and pieces of outside sources at the end of the video. Sometimes the studio etc (Looking at you UMG) still tries to claim copyright kitten and rejects disputes anyway (why I took down and re-did the first video) but most of the time, if you acknowledge any other material you use, you should be fine.
