The bonuses this virtue traitline gives is so overwhelming…
Are there any builds that don’t actually go this line and is still viable?

Mainly for PvP and WvW roaming.

They are very good and very popular because they give flexibility on your utilites and are very group support orientated.

I would say If you want to run without it, it will most likely be a very selfish build or centered around honor and shouts.

I always have that line traited since the re-vamp was done. Prior to that, I always had at least 4 points in it. The reduction in Virtue recharges as well as the minors are all just too good to pass up. It almost feels as mandatory as taking the Arcane traitline for Elementalist.

One of the reasons I am not thrilled about Dragonhunter is the changes made to the Virtues and how much of the Virtues traitline no longer affects or synergizes with the new Elite traitline.

Thanks.

It’s as I have always said,
“You can get more results with a kind word and a big stick,
than you can with merely a kind word.”

with the new revamped Dragonhunter- traitline it could be possible to not go virtues in Pvp. Right now Valor and Virtues is must-have for all guardian builds. The condiclear on Block in the new DH line could maybe open the possiblity to go radiance, valor and DH with sword/focus+ longbow and marauder amulet or even Zeal, valor, DH with Gs and Longbow again with marauder

I think it’s common to a few other professions – warrior, ele notably and thief to a lesser extent-

a trait line that increases the efficiency of the class’s core mechanic – virtue in this case- is most likely to be a staple to any build – almost by definition of a good build for a given profession.

Now whether it is a bad design choice or not, i don’t know….
