Q:
Vitality question
A:
It’s because each class has a differ base HP so Vit isn’t the only thing you need to take into account.
Thief – 10.8k
Elementalist – 10.8k
Guardian 10.8k
Ranger – 15k
Mesmer – 15k
Engineer – 15k
Warrior – 18k
Necromancer – 18k
And for some reason i had the feeling that guardian will have the largest helath pool at lvl 80. Isnt guardian supposed to be the tankiest class in the game?
Reasons Guardians can “tank”.
1. Good condition removal options
2. Aegis – take no damage for 1 hit
3. Blinds – don’t get hit at all
4. High Toughness
5. Combo the Toughness with Protection Boon for extreme damage reduction.
6. Trickle healing – Regen Boon, Virtue of Resolve, Symbols, Altruistic Healing, Great sword attacks, dodge-heals, food, etc. (not to mention heals from other classes or combo heals)
7. Abilities that Block Damage
8. Abilities to give Invulnerability
So Guardians can be very tanky when they wish to be. Of course any character can tank to some degree, so don’t feel pigeon-holed into feeling as a Guardian you have play the groups tank, or the groups healer.

Guardians have low health because they pretty much use everything else to their defense.
They use a lot of boons, and can apply boons easily, like protection, aegis. They also have several ways to heal. They also have higher base toughness.
As another note I personally like to run either Knights or Cleric gear on my guardian. I’ve never stated for Vitality. I have under 16k health. Yet I feel I can perform well in WvW or PvE because I have so many small regeneration sources, abilities to avoid damage, ways to cleanse conditions, and lessen the impact of severe blows that I don’t worry about having lots of health.
