Warrior Horn 4 vs SoS
We asked this question many times since John P. announced that and he never ever answered.
the 4 second swiftness is really….uhm….well….we all know Warrior is the alpha class in the game. It only needs some magic attacks and able to use scepter/staff and we have no need for other classes anymore!
Well, according to the patch notes we are in a strong position and they don’t want us to be as strong offensively as other classes. So turn the shoe on the other foot I’d reply:
We, Guardians, don’t want other classes to be as strong DEFENSIVELY!!!!!! See how that works?

Nice speed buff for PVE.
If you wait for speed buff (what is absurd in any mode) in wvw you are dead or never catch your target. Anyways, for what you want to catch a target without softCC?
Great design Arenanet balance team, you know about your game. And dont ask for respect, you lose that ignoring the whole community in useless feedback, wasting the time of players with excellent predisposition to talk about a change without overpower request.

We are slower today than we were yesterday using SoS. There’s absolutely no denying that. Standing there waiting for pulses is time spent not moving. We are slower.

the new SoS is not that bad.
a bit worse at insta-chase, a bit better if you use the symbol in combat in a way you might sit in it for a few pulses.
no where near the ’OMG" nerf i thought it would feel like.

Since you are starting consuming your swiftness as soon as the first tick applies, actually it stacks 13 sec of swiftness if you stay for the entire symbol duration.
Also, you have to stand still for 4 seconds, not really a nice speed buffing.

But, staff guards in 1vs1 are just jokes….so we got a buff overall.
I havent tried it since update, but the notes say it only gives 4 secs of swiftness on the FIRST tick, and any later ticks, in which you already have swiftness, you only get 1 second. So either they did a poor job with wording, both during the release, and before (because they worded it the same for the preview), or they worded it right, in which case it will get nerfed again, assuming it really is giving 4 seconds a tick.

But staff is not usualy used in combat anyway. Just for travel and might stack. And teamplay already have enough swiftness sources. Zergs will barely notice that, but individuals are hurt a lot with this. Its more nerf them buff.
I’m not sure how many other ways this can be said…
In no way is this change to SoS a buff. Before the patch there was no prep time and you could refresh swiftness on the run with minimal boon duration bonuses. Any time spent standing still in a circle buffing swiftness is time that was spent already running at swiftness speed prior to the patch. You could basically take off running at swiftness speed and not stop until you got to where you were going. Having to wait for pulses now is the nerf.

Why did they not just keep it as it was and allow the 8 seconds to stack? As it is now, if I use the staff as I’m accustomed to using it, then I only get 4 seconds of swiftness. I’m out of the symbol before it pulses again. I’ve taken to having to circle in the symbol to snag that extra 4 seconds, but I lost ground in doing that! A bizarre change.
