Were class mechanichs ever changed?
Hammer is still a symbol dispenser, no real grand changes to note that I know of. We are getting “specialization” with HoT that will give us new things I guess.
I can’t help but make one comment though, while we lack that large HP pool we make up for it with tons of blocks, I wouldn’t really consider guardian low on survival, you just don’t have it as passively as say a warrior.
I don’t really get the connections you’re making here but as you said, no reason to debate them. The one thing that is worth mentioning is that there were not ‘grand’ changes to the class and that is because Anet actually intends for some of these ‘flaws’ you mention because of their concept for the class.
IMO, the biggest impacts we have felt was the addition of the third GM traits and the nerf way back with Spirit Weapons. Even then I don’t think any of those things were really game changers for us.
I doubt that at any point, you will get whatever change you imagine will allow you to swing you hammer happily.

There were a decent number of changes in the closed beta about 3 years ago before it went to open beta.
Back then there were some traits that made symbols give a fury like buff.
Burning stacked in intensity.
Hammer had a ability that applied an AOE burn.
Cant remember all the other stuff, but there were some pretty nice things
Some of the traits guardian has are leftovers from then, & they made allot more sense then too.

I didn’t play Guardian much back then, but I do remember Sanctuary being an Elite and Renewed Focus being a utility.

Loved the renewed focus change.
Sanctuary however is basically useless as is, anyone with stability can walk through it, ground targeted stuff can be placed under it & it’s so small you can be knocked out of it via melee.

Some of them were really nice, but many very bad too
