Q:
What can I expect when Playing a Guardian?
A:
Warrior is one of the most passive way to play the game. Don’t get me wrong, you playing Warrior can be really challenging if you want to be really good with it (especially in PvP). But the Warrior job in PvE is usually to put banners, give passive buff, use FGJ when ready and bash the hell out of all mobs, pretty straight forward, not much thinking or preparation when you play casual.
The guardian is not that bad either for that. But for some dungeon, some party will expect the guardian to do some specific stuff. Guardian is all about active defensive skills. Put a wall of reflection to protect your team. Pop an aegis so your team don’t have to dodge. Spam blind to keep your team alive. Give them stability so they are not knock back in a risky situation. Guardian are also on of the best profession to rez people (with thief).
You can play the Guardian passive, but you will lose a lot of the strength of the profession.
Maybe you should keep playing Warrior. You are only level 30 man. Go through you story, level up to 80, learn your profession, experiments with different build, get yourself an exotic gear set, then try again in sPvP. Of course right now, you will have a hard time in sPvP. You don’t know your profession, don’t know which build is best for your, don’t know what the other profession can do and what are your counter. Take it slow, learn your profession.
guardian has less ranged weapons than warrior so youll probably be “upfront” even more on it. however if you dont think warrior is “relaxed” enough for you I’m sorry to say that you should probably try a turret engi.

Guardin in a nutshell.
Disclaimer: I only play support Guardian and only PvP and WvW.
Guardians are most at home in the thick of combat, surrounded by both allies and foes. It’s a profession that requires you to think things through more than it requires you to spam buttons. Your defenses are proactive (requires you to know the fights), but most of your skills are reactive (action X happens, so you’ll need to use skill Y).
Your support skills are good and for the most part interesting. Pretty much every weapon you’ll equip will offer something that allows not only you, but also your team, to overcome challenges. If you’re into support, the Guardian has plenty to offer.
Downside of the Guardian is mostly the speed. Compared to other professions, the Guardian feels slow. Not just in the movement speed, but also in the way the weapons work (this is better if you use stuff like the Sword, Scepter or Greatsword). This might put certain people off. I like it.
Well, it all depends on what you really want to do. There are all sorts of way to play and classes that have different roles. Try fighting golems in the heart of the mist (pvp lobby) to test out all the weapons with each class. You might find something that fits your style.
I would also take a look at the meta wiki. It’s not to say that you have to use those builds, but it gives you some insight on the roles these classes are currently filling. Look through the traits, weapons and tips given for the build. Again, you might find something fun.
