So ive been reading up on guardian tacs like obals long post and some others, and then i came across something like “Camping GS and Sword is a bad idea” Now what do they mean by that?
Ive been trying to figure out a main between warr and guardian, i find guardian so have more visualy apealing spells so im trying to get better as guardian in dungeons:)
Camping means staying on one weapon without swapping. In the case of guardians, swapping back and forth between Sword/X and Greatsword is better than staying always with one of those weapons sets.
The reason is that the Greatsword autoattack is weak while the other skills hit hard, while the Sword has better autoattack damage than the Greatsword. So you do your big hitters on Greatsword and then switch to Sword until the cooldowns on those skills are back up. (That’s an oversimplification as the actual rotation is slightly more involved, but that’s the principle of it.)
The only weapons on the guardian that is worth camping in PvE is Hammer and Spectre (only for big slow boss like Lupi). Otherwise you should always swap between 2 weapons, unless one of those 2 weapons are a staff, then you should never swap to it in combat and only use it at the start of a fight.
Hammer is so ridiculous for camping (with a 5(II, I)/5(VI, VII)/0/4(II, VII)/0) that you can pretty much camp the auto-attack chain (90-97% DPS of a full GS+Sword/Focus rotation) and only use Mighty Blow to blast people’s fields (or your own for Area Retaliation).
