What gear do you think is best for YOUR guardian ?
Currently My best gear is Soldier (Power/Toughness/Vitality) Armor, and Weapons. Cleric (Power/Toughness/Healing Power) Jewelery. Also going to buy the Soldier back from guild armorer.
The soldier modifier (Power/Toughness/Vitality) isn’t obtainable on crafted gear. However, it is obtainable on 5/6 pieces from the temples in Orr, on WvW gear, and on some of the dungeon vendors (Ascalonian Catacombs and Honor of the Waves and maybe one other).
Power/prec/toughness on the entire armor and weapons with beryl accessories gives me what I feel is a good balance in HP, Armor and facemelting.
edit: About runes I haven’t a clue. Seems a lot of the good ones are bugged or I’m clueless. Divinity I like, or Soldier. Maybe Dolyak even.
When damaging in PvE a full power/precision/crit will make you hit tons. You shouldn’t die if you choose the right utility and have a decent group and know when you have to back out yourself.
Pow/Tgh/Vit gear is available from karma vendors in Orr:

You can also get it from the Honor of the Waves dungeon vendor and maybe some others as well as the WvW armor vendors.
I prefer Soldier’s like many have stated here. I don’t have the full set yet as Melandru Temple is completely bugged on my server, I’m using Cleric’s to fill remaining slots in the mean time. +Healing is great but I feel does not have as big of an impact on your overal survivability after you get it to a decent amount (600-800 healing is enough imo). The issue here is that the scaling of +Healing seems a lot weaker than just straight up getting 5k more max HP.
I use Power/Precision/Toughness because I have 30 pts in Honor.

I use Power/Vitality/Crit Damge (Valkyrie) for Helm, Pauldrons, Gloves, Boots, Rings & Amulet. Power/Precisions/Toughness (Knight’s) for Breastplate, Leggings & Melee Weapons. Power, Precision & Condition Damage for Rings. Attributes are 0/15/30/20/5.
This is to give a good attack rating, high crit chance to take advantage of 30 points in valour, 18k hp and about a 2800 armour rating.
Power/vit/tough is also available though AC tokens.
I’m about to hit 80 myself and was wondering the same question. I’m going for a 20/25/0/20/5 build. I too like the looks of Valk and Knights, but was also thinking of throwing on a couple pieces of Berserkers. I don’t know how this build will do in wpvp or anything but I’m hoping I can at least survive a bit.
Full berserkers. Full glass cannon. Relying solely on meditations and guardian’s decent armor to stay alive. I am there to do damage. As long as I survive, I have no need for the extra hp/armor.
I use Valkyrie’s (PvE) for Power, Vitality and Crit Damage. Though I’m tempted in trying a Soldier’s set.
My build is also the same, full Power, full Vitality, whatever’s left on Crit Damage.
I focus on high base damage, high heals, low crit (15~20%) but about 65% crit damage. When I see a crit, I joy!
Is there anyone who can share some experience who’s playing with a full(?) cleric’s set? I’m looking to go full support/tank for dungeon grouping. I know from experience that clerics works great in pve but I’m still currently lvling to 80 in PvE
I’ve not done a full setup yet, but I wonder if Virtue of Resolve is affected by healing gear. If so, it might be worthwhile investing in some equipment which takes advantage of this effect, I think that’s what the developers had in mind with the class, though I suspect that the huge DPS of other classes will completely negate any self-heals we can pump out and that +toughness and vitality are our only options to counteract the awful base hit points we are handicapped with.

VoR does infact scale with healing power. As for your hp to burn. I stacked in spvp that is vit, healing power, power, precision. I faceroll 3 people at a time with my guard. This is with no toughness against glass cannons and toughness support types. Normally only go down against the full team turning there guns on me. So while you wouldent think it our self healing with our raw defense ability actually can be very powerful.
I’m using Toughness/Healing/Power armor ATM and Vitality/Precision/Healing Jewels.
I use DPS Mace + Heal Shield and Heal Staff.
Lorella Windrunner – 80 Thief
Shayera Nightfall – 80 Mesmer
WvW Focused Player, I use Full Carrion (Power/Vitality/Condition Damage). My build is based around Condition Damage, thus so is my gear. I do not use Runes, I use the Power/Vitality/Condition Damage Orbs in my gear to maximize stats. This allows for my Vitality to be decently high, my power to allow my auto attacks to hit for around 2.2k and crit for 3.6k, and heavy condition damage with quick uptime/long duration has my burn ticking for well over 1000.
Full stat make-up with all the gear and Orbs in them is instead of Runes:
1,723 Condition damage with Pizza( almost 1,900 with 3 orbs)
20,956 health (24k with 3 orbs)
2,022 Power
Server – Fort Aspenwood
I am currently running full Cleric gear, well, for the most part. Everything is Cleric except my 2 rings are Vit/Power/Crit damage. I am really liking the survivability I have, but my damage isn’t amazing or anything. I am sitting at over 3k total defense, 1000-1100 healing power, 16kHP and 3k Power. My crit is pretty low (in the 15-20%), but I do pump out A LOT of healing. In most fights, one person literally can’t do damage to me at all. It takes 2-3 people to really get me needing to use my heal and what not.
Overall, I like the build for PvE and dungeons (as I can almost straight up tank everything in melee, I still need to get runes for my gear though). I think I might try to build another set for a more damage focused build for PvP/WvW. Then again, this set up is great for small group skirmishes and SPvP, so it really just depends. The main issue is you are not really putting the hurt on people.
Also, I am not noticing a great payout on the Healing Power stat, and I am thinking about changing out some of my gear to beef up other parts. I would say around 600-800 healing power is all you really need.

I’m rocking full Cleric’s on my armor with runes of the water, pow/prec/crit on my greatsword with superior sigil of water, and chrysocola jewelry. I find that the healing really synergizes with the greatsword heal on ability use, and also provides my party with constant (and significant) healing, while the extra vitality from the jewelry makes me very difficult to kill.
I am very pleased with this build and am surprised that not many more are doing it as it gives a decent amount of damage for farming, tons of survivabilty, and great support for dungeon groups.

Did they change Zealous Blade to scale with Healing Power?

I also would like to know this. I feel it should have scaled all along and was just bugged. Been itching to make a 30 zeal build.
