Q:

What was considered ‘good’ retal damage before/after yesterday’s changes?

i.e. As a necromancer, we consider 100-120 damage bleed ticks decent/condition damage specced.

I dont actually think they changed the retaliation mechanics. I’m not positive, but im pretty sure its still doing about 190 per attack received and scaling a bit with power.

Yeah I know it didn’t change, I’m really just wondering what guardians considered good damage on a viable retal spec.

I’m trying to make a retal necromancer. Got about 230 per attack. Hrm apparently base damage is 267???

Retaliation Damage:

- Not stacking with any stat.
- Stacking only with your level.
- Damages can be reduce by armor.
- Not stacking in intensity but only on duration.
- On lv80 vs lv80 the average damage is between 150 and 350. Never less, never more.

This “nerf” isn’t even a nerf because who need Relatiation ? Maybe for PvE yes.

Retalation even not working correctly against “fast” attackers like Thief.

IIRC Retaliation scales with power (unless the wiki and earlier tests are outdated). In invader gear and certain crests you can go get up to 450-500 base damage, but in practice the number is much, much lower.

Scales with level according to wiki.

Let me rephrase, when you make a retal guardian, what retal damage do you usually see?

150-350 is a pretty big range!

“Retaliation reflects damage based on level and scales with power, increasing damage by 1 for every 13.4 power. At level 80, base damage is 267. "

quoted from the wiki. Confirmed by seeing dmg increase after applying Superior Sharpening Stones. I also see it decrease in live action as my stacks of might wear off.
I didnt realize, however, that it could be mitigated. Just never thought about it.
