Guild Wars 2

So I main an 80 Guardian on GW2, have since launch, and am not entirely happy with it.

Here’s my style: I like playing aggressive ‘duelist’ characters who are focused on dominating in 1v1. My playstyle is a sort of direct [hence why thieves don’t appeal to me], brawler-oriented class who is focused on slugging it out with one enemy at a time. My Guardian, no matter how offensively I build him, still seems to be more group-oriented than anything.

I’m fully aware that maybe I’m just not building my guardian right. Typically, I use a greatsword/sword-torch build.

Long story short, I’m trying to ask people who have played warriors, guardians, or both: which class am I better off with if I want a character who is very focused on winning 1v1 fights and assaulting points?

You are better off with a Warrior, Warrior has far more ‘selfish’ game play. Which is what I want to. I have played both war and guard. I tested in Mists and could make a Warrior that outperformed my guardian in everything other than boasting allies which isnt for me either. Personally i wish the was a selfish trait that allowed guard to be more of a mystical soldier…but oh well.

Hmm guardians can be REALLY seflish in builds. But they aren’t supposed to be the highest dps power houses. But in truth I haven’t seen a single warrior whose a dps power house be able to sustain himself as well as a guardian doing it.

Do you know what kind of builds these are?

hmm well Judge’s Intervention + Smite Condtion + Purging Flames + Monk’s Focus gives some selfish and “mystical” game play. Have you had a look at Silent’s Berserker build on this forum? Pretty good build focused on damage not support.

Lol just role a warrior. They are the no brainer kill kill kill kill class. A guardian may not be able to out burst a warrior but a guardian can survive the burst and kick the warriors kitten img src="/include/images/smilies/smile.png" />
