Why are Guardian Tomes written in English?

I’m also curious about this.
The other books have different text as well!
That’s funny. Our English is their Latin.
This “Guardian Book” text shouldn’t be on cover or something?

Yea the text is a bit silly as well, kind of self explanatory that it’s a guardian book without it stating it so obvious I’d still love to know why it’s this way.

Must’ve been a default skin and forgotten past release XD
Good call, this needs a fix! Here is a slightly clearer version, but it just looks like facerolled-keyboard text:

Interesting, Can make out a couple of words but they’re not in English but not New Krytan either….Wonder what language it is if any. What a mystery :P

It seems the author has “Grognet” as surname.
Couldn’t find anything related on google.
Guardian of Moonlight Shadow [MLS]
Lol, I really like these kinds of topics. Finding something useful in game like this, and trying to find out where it came from and what it means! I bet this is indeed something they put in when they were testing but forgot to take it out. But if ArenaNet has some humor, I reckon the text on that book really means something.
It’s only English when you’re looking.

Your GW2 client is seamlessly translating it from Krytan to English in real time. It’s a known function of the HUD.

Well, that makes sense for a book of “Wrath”, doesn’t it?

The text becomes English when you look at it? That’s interesting!
When I look at it, my target turns into a bloody pulp on the ground.
Break up his current fight.
I guess it’s more of an immersion sort of problem. I actually think it would be nicer if it were written in New Krytan it just feels so odd having it written in English now that I have a higher level guardian. Then again, floating books aren’t exactly realistic either I guess it could be considered a strange foreign language to the people of Tyria but still it’s odd.

in the world of tyria, english is an ancient language. just like what is latin or sanskrit to us.
Tome of Wrath translation:
“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take those lemons back. GET MAD! I don’t want your kitten lemons, what am I supposed to do with these?! Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Guardians lemons! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?”
etc.
