Q:
When people see that I don’t have AH they get all worked up and tell me I’m going to instantly die. With Pure of Voice and the DPS I do nothing in PvE even threatens me. In WvW I get a lot of killing blows with this build that I never did in my AH builds. So why all the hate?
Changed link to show slot skills though obviously its shouts.

I see what you’re going for. You have a fair amount of power, precision, and vitality. You lack toughness, but your build is centered around dealing high damage and dealing an additional 20% against enemies you’re setting on fire. It is a nice build, and from the looks of it you’re relying heavily on Virtue of Justice to cause burning. It would be rather difficult to focus on sustaining that 20% damage boost without activating it, and even harder when it doesn’t refresh after killing an enemy. Perhaps you could switch out the Sigils of Air for Sigils of Fire for added burning if you haven’t tried that already and test those results.
More or less, if someone mocks your build, just forget it. Altruistic Healing is primarily for survival, not DPS. What you have works for you and your playstyle. Who really cares if someone thinks your build that earns you kills isn’t good? It gets the job done. I have Altruistic Healing, and I fail hardcore at WvW because I’m centered on PvE. In reality, I’d be more than happy to switch builds between PvE and WvW if I had some extra bag space to carry another set of armor. At least your build satisfies both modes of the game.
Your build looks interesting for WvW, I like it. =)
That said, on the AH note… I see where AH can be beneficial in PvE. However, the fact that some people talk about using it in WvW kind of confuses me. I don’t feel like you can spread boons easily enough in WvW to make it worth using AH. I see reason to build for survival, sure, but a build based around AH in WvW just seems like it would be sub-par. So ignore people who bash on your build.

It can be possible with the right amount of precision, but the issue becomes how to constantly apply Empowering Might. You’ll have to move into melee range which fails in zergs. You become the primary target, and you’ll often lack nearby teammates to heal often. Even if you could get Empowering Might every second (internal cooldown) with four nearby allies, you would still only heal 350-450 health each second depending on healing power. Throw in Virtue of Resolve’s passivel healing and you can manage 425-625 health per second. Now put yourself in melee range of every enemy within the area. Its benefits diminish quickly. Most WvW build that include Altruistic Healing use it as a secondary means of survival focusing more on negating damage (through blinds or aegis) and dealing damage instead of tanking it.
You don’t really need AH if your sustain is good enough as is. I personally find it extremely useful but only because I have invested heavily in the valor tree. I ran a power precision build similar to yours but gave it up because I wasn’t able to stay on the frontlines long enough.
Valor helps a lot with DPS, fyi. that 30% critical damage is for a lack of better words, kittening awesome.
I was considering going full soldiers on armor, zerkers on trinkets, and 00-00-30-30-10 in hopes it would allow me to survive long enough to keep camps contested when roaming, allow me to survive for a time on the front lines while still doing damage, and also allow me to actually kill people 1v1 when roaming. The linked build is interesting though I would kind of like to see it perform, but then I am also worried about being able to survive against odds when contesting with this build. It looks like a good build still, just not for my purposes maybe. =P
You can still have very high dps with a 30/30/10 build :P. Because the 30% critical damage from valor is, well, like I mentioned, freakin’ awesome. In also happens to contain some of our best traits.
Swap out Power Oil for Precision Oil. Will boost your Crit % up to 41% or so for more healing.
Also, you could add on a Sigil of Generosity (every 10s going to take one of your conditons and put it on them, which gives you 10% more damage… and if it’s a burn, 20% more dmg).
Interesting build. I like it.

+1 Precision Oil
People talk a lot about burn sustainability like it ONLY comes from VoJ. There are other means to cause burns…like using a #4 torch, Judge’s Intervention, Purging Flames. With these I generally don’t run out of burns for a good while.
Yeah most stuff is dead by the time my burn falls off. Or it still has Vulnerability or a condition on it from someone else which only drops the 10% for burning and not the 10% for conditions.
Someone mentioned Sigil of Fire but unfortunately it doesn’t put a real burn on the target it just does a “burst” of burn damage. I was using Sigil of Rage until the recent nerf. If they compensate it with a reduced cool down or longer duration I will probably go back to Sigil of Rage because it is extremely fun.
Viralseed, it is actually an additional 30-40% damage if you dodge your endurance away and open up at full health. You can do some hilariously high burst.

Dristig, I dunno if you’re a human guard, but last night I was just messing around with utility skills and stumbled across “prayer to lyssa”. This skill might synergize well with your extra damage on enemies with conditions….
I am using it mainly for the random boon every 12 secs. I know people knock on racial abilities as being lackluster, but we’ll see It’s either that or stand your ground( 2boons) with 24 sec CD(traited) oh I guess it is lackluster since it only affects you, not party, but if you’re soloing hey why not….
because it’s not a cookie cutter build, which is why I encourage you to continue with it.
If your build works for you, then use it. Personally, I just couldn’t move to a build like that, as I think the valor tree just offers too much in terms of DPS and survivability, (30% crit damage which is great for high crit builds, meditation healing, 300 extra toughness, extra crit from tougness, things like this) One thing though is that you should switch your sigil out of your offhand for something else, on crit sigils all share a CD, and always activate based on the main hand first, offhand second. AKA, your offhand sigil is never going to activate because of your mainhand. switch to either a straight boost like accuracy, or an on kill effect like bloodlust.
Also, as a personal preference, I would say drop the scholar runes and go for pack runes. Unless you can stay at 90%+ health consistantly, (which in PvE is totally possible, in WvW not so much) the pack runes offer more damage, and also give you the chance for swiftness, fury, and might when hit (which only being 5% it actually procs fairly decently. And this also gives the buffs to allies too.)
Yeah that’s a mistake I have the +5% crit sigil in my scepter. I must have just copied it from my Greatsword.
Interesting about the pack runes, I’ll look at them again.
I don’t feel like you can spread boons easily enough in WvW to make it worth using AH.
Symbols… most of your shouts… Other weapon and utility skills like Hallowed grounds or Signet of Judgement… Then traits like Inspiring Virtues…
Can I have some of what you’re drinking please?
