I always hear warriors going “FGJ!” “OMM” “Shake It off!”

But I noticed I can never hear other guardians saying Retreat, SY and Hold the line doesnt even have a voice atm.

Why does guardian only hear himself, and wars get the team to hear theirs?

People dont realize guards are even using a shout half the time

I agree though – it would benefit the whole team if they had a queue to when boons like stability was available to them.

Its a wierd difference, yes. Guardian shouts should be hearable by other players as well. Rangers too, even though their shouts only affect the pets, I’d still like to hear them. And also the few racials that involve shouting (I know the Charr have one). They should all be audible to other players.

Actually, the other reason is guardian shouts aren’t as spammable as warrior shouts.

shake it off can be activated via shrug it off, FGJ can be used whenever it is off cooldown because the might stays forever, OMM is another great fire and forget shout.

HTL has very little duration for the protection, retreat is minute long cd, save yourself is minute long, and stand your ground serves as a stun break, not something to waste willy nilly

I just want them to change the Guardian shouts to something more heroic like the Warriors……….when a front line soldier like the guardian says retreat……….yeah.

They do make sounds, at least some do. There is one or two that don’t which kinda bugs me.

They have audible queues for the player casting them (i.e., you, the guardian) but not for teammates.

“Save Yourselves” is kinda heroic you know. And so is “Hold the Line” aswell as “Stand Your Ground”.

“Hold the line” does sound to the player, though only sometimes. I agree, this must be a bug, and not developer-intended at all (hope it’s somewhere on their fix list.)

My Asura guardian never shouts ‘hold the line’. Only stand your ground, Save yourselves and retreat. But I do wish other players could hear my shouts.

My female Sylvari never says “Hold the Line!” either. She’ll sometimes make the remarks that come from gaining the boons, like “armor up!” or “protection!”, but never “hold the line!”.

I also wish that others could hear the shouts as well. A good example would be during the Kholer fight in AC. If the group hears “Stand Your Ground!” right before the pull, they don’t have to worry about dodge rolling (unless in melee range), as the stability prevents the pull.

“Retreat!” would be a little awkward, but that’s why I agree with the suggestion someone else made on this forum that “Retreat!” be changed to “Incoming!”. Both were skills in GW1 that served similar purposes, and it makes much more sense to be screaming “incoming” rather than “retreat” all the time.

The voice box for “Hold The Line!” is sorta… mixed.
Sometimes the character shouts WvW related things such as “We got the Tower!”, “Supply Camp is ours!”, “Victory is ours!”

My memory’s kinda foggy but I remember my character shouting “Hold The Line!”
Will try to do it again and try to record it.
