Could some one explain to me, why is Celestial stat preferred to a Staff / Hammer Guardian? To me Celestial is “good in everything but best in nothing” stat.

Currently I am running a Soldier weapon + armor with Megi accessories Staff / Hammer Guardian, and it perform exactly as what I wish: high toughness and vitality frontline healer with ability to give tough punch to enemies.

Since cheap equipment like Soldier + Megi set can fit the purpose, why should I spend a lot to effort to get Celestial set, especially the quartz crystal is very troublesome to get it.

Celestial has more stat points for a power support wvw guard than any 4 stat set and it balances them out quite well.

3-stat 4-stat 7-stat
Grand total 3303 3612 4473

Its less directed then 3 or 4 stat, but the point total is higher. Hybrid support builds were using this for a LONG time, because it rounds out the defense stats well. Eles were also doing really well with it in PvP….. which is probably why the took it out of the sPvP stat list.

Classes like the Elementalist are able to do incredible things with a full Celestial gear.
Some time ago there was an incredible amount of cele-ele in WvW. In the gold age, a single ele was totally unkillable and able to kill a full party alone.

For the same reason, the ele was unkillable in sPvP because able to spam defensive and offensive boons all the day long (perma protection, regen, swiftness and 25 stack of might) and that granted him a way to kill every single enemy in 1v1.
In sPvP ANet was Forced to make necromancers able to spam boon corruptions, making them the only class really able to kill an ele.

That’s to tell you that a perfectly balanced class/build with full celestial is able to do Everything.
Maybe slowly, but Everything.
