It should not be interruptible. An instant cast invulnerability skill should be just that. It is poorly designed in its current form.

Yeah, I know right, it shouldn’t stop you from capturing/holding a point either.

They should return it to how it was in the Beta, 2 second cast followed by 8 seconds of invulnerability. Though joking aside, you should refresh the virtues as soon as you cast it so that you never get that cooldown without refreshing. Though it should just be instant cast while giving the immunity and refresh, I don’t understand how other classes can be immune and attacking but Guardians need to have a banacing factor attached to theirs.

Because classes are different, so balance is a combination of many things, which means one type of skill on one class is not necessarily going to work the same specific way as a a skill on another class.

Beyond that guard is not the only class with an invrun where you can’t attack at the same time, engi has elixir S (where you really can’t do anythng else unlike guard where you can still use instant skills like JI), ele has mist form, etc.

How on earth did you manage to be interrupted while invulnerable?

I can’t think of a single thing outside of raid mechanics that pierces invul, thus no way to interrupt.

Are you sure you didn’t self interrupt with weaponswap or weapon stow?

It’s been a thing in WvW for a while now.
But I don’t think it’s intentional, rather a symptom of server lag.

Ohhhhhh I think I know what happened here.

I’m guessing that the thief interrupted a skill right before you used renewing focus. This would have applied Pulmonary impact which is a 2 second effect that deals damage at the end. If the thief casts Basilisk Venom before the Pulmonary impact goes off then the Pulmonary Impact would have proc’ed Basilisk Venom on you even though you where invulnerable.

Or at least that’s what I’m thinking happened. I haven’t tested this.

Happened to me lots of times, pop RF bam interrupted in casting and cd’s stayed the same. And no I wasnt dodging or swapping weapons, maybe due to lag in wvw recently I used RF but someone before stunned me before so calculation of server side messed up.

Does that basi trick actually work? I know pulmonary impact will still do damage if its set before going invuln but never heard of the basi trick (may work for other venoms too)

This has happened a lot of times and one reason I think I found is that you can be interrupted mid-channel by walking over a line of warding or similar barrier with no stab.
I’m actually not sure if that is how invuln is supposed to work with/out stab but I usually stop moving for a second or watch carefully what I’m going over when I use it just in case.

PI should not work if you are invulnerable, even with basi. Ive used RF meny times to avoid the damage coming from that.

This is correct. Unblockables/wards do not go through invuln. In wvw I have run into the issue a couple times where a slight server delay resulted in me going down (not from condis) since the server registered me being hit before the RF cast began but I have only encountered the problem maybe 4 or 5 times over the past 2 years and have not once encountered this problem in PvP.
